HER AND THE STARS
She crawled the first seven years on paths of stars
Before the sickening trembling
Of being shaken to awakening
Morning drew up and gnarled and slashed and scarred
The resounding voices of unsatisfied consciousness
Pierce through unforgiving cries
Leave her hollow, empty, sucked up, and dried
That she'd trade in her soul, her mind, everything... for rest
Abandoned ambitions began haunting in slumber
Echoes of unforgotten dreams
That hold to her like quiet screams
But she hears the hard knock of failing to touch distant laughters
Twenty leagues she swam in the ocean they named life
And yet she feels she's dying
Hears death incessantly calling
Lay her, caress her, grab her from unending strife
She calls in the night when the day begins to peek
Tonight she misses the stars
The path she'd never gotten far
And in the darkness, in the silence, she goes on to seek
