Asleep in your arms
Secure and warm
A circle of protection
In fear of falling off
Not much room
Maneuverability limited
No blankets needed
Enough body heat
Breathing slows
Relaxing heart rhythms
Becoming synchronized
An action so quickly made
Not knowing much
About each other
Or possible shared feelings
But we slept together
Nothing physically consummated
A moment shared
Not even a full night
An hour or two at the most
And knowing each other for less
I was eager to be held
Accepting your company
Wanting to share your bed
Needing the connection
The affection I've been missing
You gave me that and more
A renewed belief in my worth
Revitalized urge to bond
Unguarded and sheltered by another
Stretched out on your unkempt bed
Feeling your breath against my hair
Yours hand holding to my waist
My head rested on your chest
Feeling the lift as you take in air
Wanting to revel in the moment
Wanting those hours to last forever
There asleep in your arms
*note* This is on the subject of "Off Limits".
The main reason for this poem, however, is to
take my mind off of another subject (former
love interest). Bad habits are hard to kick. So
I have decided to focus on a different habit.
Though this subject is just as bad as the other.
Perhaps the lesser of two evils.
