Hippity Hop Down The bunnie Trail

Click, click, clickety, click! 6:15 in the morning, and Kevin was on the computer. Not a moment to waste in his glasses-covered eyes. Hunched over the keyboard he sat for hours, moving monsters, destroying cities, and mining gold. This boy was a gamer. A 15 year old gaming prodigy who even the masters of the game feared.

Kevin grinned as his hoard of ogres set fire to the final house in a village and began pillaging the house for any valuables. “And what does the mighty Vampire_King666 rule over now?!” he called at hic computer screen as he typed. “Nothing! That’s what! Bow down before my almighty army of unbeatable Ogres!” he said with a slightly maniacal cackle.

A beep and a message appeared on the screen. “Vampire_King666: You’re cheating somehow, M1dg3+_D3\/1L. I know you are”

Kevin smirked and typed gleefully. “M1dg3+_D3\/1L: Cheating? Spending four long years mining and training my perfect killing machines is cheating? Hardly. You just need to spend more time and care when crafting your armies. Oh, and next time, don’t be so tempted to throw your heavy artillery at me first. :D” Kevin smiled and hit the enter button. He moved his mouse and selected his gigantic army of no less than 2000 Ogres and began moving them north on the map, ignoring the “newbie-ish” taunts and curses of the Vampire King.

He had set his army to return back to their base camp for supplies. As they moved, he stretched and got out of his chair, knowing very well that his army could take care of it own troops. He went upstairs into the warmth of the kitchen, exiting the cold drerieness of his room down in the unfinished basement of his house. He walked to the refrigerator and pulled out a jug of orange juice and poured himself a glass.

“Kevin…?” he heard behind him. The voice was soft and tired. He set his glass down and turned to face a little girl dawned in a bright pink robe with several embroidered bunnies covering it. “Why are you up so early?”

Kevin shook his head and pushed his silver-framed glasses up his nose, then ran a hand through his raven black hair. “No reason. I was just playing some ‘Masters of Camelot’. My troops are going back to the base, so I decided to get some OJ and a doughnut.” He eyed the girl suspiciously. “What are you doing up, Milly?”

The little girl gave her sweetest, cutest smile and scuffed her pink slippered foot on the linoleum tile. “Nothin’, Big bro… I just heard you come up, so I wanted to see what you were doin’.”

Kevin sighed and took another drink from his glass. “I see. Well, not that it’s any concern of yours, but I have to get ready for school.” He walked over to a white box over by the refrigerator and opened it, pulling out a chocolate éclair. “Good day to you, child.” He then took his glass and walked back down the stairs to monitor his army. One look at the screen was all he needed to send him into a fit of terrified screams of agony. His entire fleet had been destroyed. After about a minute, a message appeared on the screen.

“powerpuff_bunnie: hahaha! you need to pay more attention, d3\/1|_! and thank you for showing me where your base is! i hope you have good guards!” the message read.

Kevin stared at the screen in disbelief, and then typed in as fast as he could. “M1dg3+_D3\/1L: Oh, no you don’t! I’ll be on guard all day if I have to! I will NOT let you beat me, bunnie!” he said, growling as each finger hit a key.

“powerpuff_bunnie: do you think so? then you shall face the full force of my amazon warrior princesses!”

Kevin took a look at his clock and shut down his game and his computer, making a desperate dash to his laptop and his wireless Internet connection. He paid no attention to any of his lessons that day and focused strictly on protecting his bases. The bunnie did not attack all day, much to Kevin’s dismay. He became frustrated, but at the same time, confident in his base. He figured that his archenemy of three years had given up. He doubted that she was even online and was taunting him.

He remembered when he was still training his armies. The powerpuff_bunnie had attacked his training grounds and wiped out every last troop and building he had standing. Since then, he had switched to a stronger race that was good with finding resources. The Ogre. However, this race had one flaw. Its speed was very low. He managed to raise the intelligence of his troops to at least a human level, and this had served him very well when mining for minerals and finding hidden bases. Every now and again, he would send a brigade out to scout an area or build another base, and every time, his enemy would find him and slaughter his brigade.

It was known throughout the land of the “Masters of Camelot” that the Powerpuff_Bunnie was the best. Everyone knew it and no one dared try to deny it. Many cities would form alliances specifically to take her down, and they had all been destroyed. It had been rumored that she had a base of three miles long in a mountain with well over 100,000 Amazon warriors hidden and kept very safe within the base’s walls.  A strategic mastermind she was called by almost everyone who played the game. She was definitely a force to be reckoned with, but for some reason, Kevin always found it queer that she would pick specifically on him. No one but Kevin called her a bully.  It was true that she had the strongest army in the entire land, but she never went around and burned a village without a reason. This reason is why Kevin always hated her. She seemed to take enjoyment in seeing his various bases and droves burn.

She would never chat when asked. She would not reveal information to anyone, even her former allies. People questioned just who this person was. Some people thought that it must be the president of the United States or Hitler rose from the dead. These comments were of course made after their hard built cities had been demolished. Others thought that it was just a lonely old woman who sat at home with nothing better to do. Kevin knew better. He assumed her to be the most ruthless woman alive, a future general for the Army, someone beautiful who could play chess like a pro, someone who was just a few weeks younger than he was. She would be his ideal woman. The woman who would set him free and marry him. He held onto this belief with every inch of his heart. Though he hated her, she also helped him fix patches in his security and defense.

When Kevin got home from school, he noticed that nobody was home. He didn’t remember his mother mentioning to him that she would be taking his seven-year-old sister Milly out. He set his backpack down on the counter and sighed heavily, running down to his room to turn on the computer. His various bases were safe. He gave a large sigh of relief and continued working on his defenses and picked a number of troops and began moving them south again to begin building a base on the ruins of Vampire_King666’s former necropolis. He noticed that there were a few new buildings standing and some zombie soldiers wandering around.

Kevin grinned evilly. “M1dg3+_D3\/1L: Well, well, well, Vampire_King666, we meet again. Prepare to meet your doom!”

“Vamipre_King666: NO! Don’t do it! I won’t attack you! I swear it! If you spare my troops, I’ll let you use my city and my soldiers in battle! An alliance!”

Kevin considered his proposal and sighed. “He’s got to be pretty thick to think that I would accept such an offer.” I smiled and typed. “M1dg3+_D3\/1L: Just how stupid do you think I am? I’ve done all of my research and used to raise undead creatures, too! You feed off the living and make them your own. So no, sorry, buddy, but you’re on your own.” And with those words, Kevin selected the “attack” function on his list of actions.

Since the size of the city was very small, it took him no longer than half an hour to re-finish the village with the loss of maybe ten soldiers. He hummed happily as his new base was being built. He heard the door upstairs being opened and closed, then his mother and little sister calling his name. He sighed heavily and went upstairs to see what they wanted.

“What is it? I’m busy.” He said in a rather snippy tone in greeting his mother.

She quirked an eyebrow and looked at her son oddly. “Not with homework, I see.” She said pointing to his backpack. I just thought you would like to hear about your little sister’s first day of first grade.”

He sighed and feigned excitement and interest toward his little sister. “Really? You’re in the first grade now, Milly? You’re a big girl, now!”

The little girl nodded and smiled, brushing some of her chestnut hair from her big brown eyes. “Yeah! I am! Pretty soon, I’m gonna be a big kid like you, Kevi! Aren’t you excited?”

Kevin faked a smile and nodded, patting Milly’s head and hugged her. “I sure am! You’re going to be a smart student.”

Milly’s pale face flushed a light pink color and burst into a big smile. “You’re so nice, Kevi.” She turned to their mother and tugged on Kevin’s sleeve. “Momma! Isn’t he nice?”

She nodded and laughed. “He sure is, Milly. You two should go off and play.” She said plainly.

Kevin shook his head and stood. “Sorry, Mom, but I have an empire to conquer.” He said haughtily.

Milly smiled and tugged on her brother’s shirt as he started back toward the stairs. “Kevi! Kevi! Can I borrow your monster book for ‘Masters of Camelot’?”

Kevin gave her a questioning look. “What do you want that for?”

Milly shrugged. “I jus’ wanna know. Is that so bad?”

Kevin sighed and brushed her hand from his shirt. “Yes, yes it is. Now, why don’t you go watch TV or something?”

Milly looked down at her shoes. “TV is boring… I’ll just go up and play on my computer…” she said sadly.

Kevin watched her trudge up the stairs, then sighed and hurried down his own set of stairs. His new base was coming along quite well; he saw when he sat back down at the computer. He smiled confidently and moved a few of his ogres to a nearby forest to get some trees for his new town. He diligently worked with his ogres as they did various tasks, building, digging, and chopping, among other things. Not one ogre was left standing for more than three seconds. His town was growing fast, and he was proud. Kevin then moved back up to his home base to pluck up some more ogres to help speed the process even more. As he went through, picking the strongest ones with the highest intelligence and strength stats, he was surprised to hear a message come through on his speakers.

“The Herd is under attack!” was played every few seconds that he failed to react. He quickly scrolled back down to his new town. Horrified, he began typing as fast as his hands would allow.

“M1dg3+_D3\/1L: NO! Bunnie! How Dare you! How DARE you!” Kevin typed in angrily, immediately recognizing the same troop of female warriors that attacked him every time.

“powerpuff_bunnie: I double-dog dare you. you took this land from that nice man the vampire king. that was mean. I told him that I would get his land back for him.” Was her reply.

Kevin growled and shook his head, sending his warriors to attack. “M1dg3+_D3\/1L: You’re wrong! I earned this land myself. That’s the point of this game! To become the undisputed ruler of Camelot!” He then scrolled up and ordered more troops to come to the aid of his troops in distress.

“powerpuff_bunnie: you are so funny. you should do what i do and become friends with all of the kingdoms. it is so much more fun that way.”

Kevin rolled his eyes. “M1dg3+_D3\/1L: Your non-capitalized words bore me. It’s time we end this NOW with my victory and your humiliating defeat!”

“powerpuff_bunnie: you will not win. you do not know how to play fair, kevin.” She said.

Kevin gasped and typed furiously, as he was extremely curious. “M1dg3+_d3\/1L: Who are you!? How do you know my name?!”

Kevin eagerly awaited her reply. It was several minutes of nothing but slaughter and ogre and Amazon screams blaring through his speakers before she spoke.

“powerpuff_bunnie: if you really want to know, you can wait until this battle is over.”

Kevin growled and slammed his fist down on the desk, typing angrily. “M1dg3+_D3\/1L: Fine. Have it your way. I’ll see you and your army in Hell!”

Her response was almost immediate. “powerpuff_bunnie: you should not speak that way. it is bad. you are a bad boy, kevin.”

Kevin laughed to himself. “Worse than you’ll ever know, sweetheart.” He muttered under his breath. He spent at least fifteen minutes gathering the right troops and setting the weaker ones to train. “All these times that I’ve been over here… she’s attacked me. Every time I enter the forest, there she is. I must be close.” He set his strongest ogres to begin chopping down the trees in neat lines. “If I eliminate the hiding tool, then she will have nowhere to hide, and I’ll have myself a new set of timber at that.” He gave out a maniacal laugh and went to gather more soldiers. More and more gathered to the forest, destroying it with no mercy.

“powerpuff_bunnie: not fair! those poor trees! how could you do a thing like that?” appeared on the screen.

Kevin grinned. “M1dg3+_d3\/1L: I finally figured it out. After all these years! Your base has always been so close. How did I not see it before?!”

“powerpuff_bunnie: because no one enters my forest without being allowed!” It was evident to Kevin that he had made her mad. He grinned and set the pace of his workers to a faster rate. “powerpuff_bunnie: that is the last straw! you will move no further, kevin!”

Sure enough, not more than a minute later, his ogres’ vigor decreased and a spear came flying through the forest, followed by a large volley of arrows. Within seconds, Kevin’s de-foresting service had been demolished. “M1dg3+_d3\/1L: You think that you’ve won, now? Ha! I have well over 20,000 more back at my home base!”

“The Herd is under attack!” his computer blared. “The Herd is under attack!”

“What?!” Kevin cried in disbelief. He scrolled down to his new establishment. Everything had already been destroyed and any flames had died. He scouted the area to check on his other bases. They had also been razed and ruined.

“The Herd is under attack!” continued to play.

Kevin growled and yelled at his computer. “I KNOW! I KNOW! Shut UP!”  He then scrolled to his home base. A good portion of it was on fire, and most of it being invaded by the female warriors. Kevin tried as hard as he could to retaliate, but with the ogre’s slow speed and inability to jump onto buildings that the Amazons had, he knew he was sunk. Kevin sacrificed many of his homes and establishments to the flames to destroy the Bunnie. After an hour of nothing but burning and screaming, the town was finally silent. Every one of Kevin’s hard-earned warriors had been killed, and a fourth of the Bunnie’s had. The war was over between them.

A beep. “powerpuff_bunnie: no one likes a person who is not friendly. take care, kevin.” Appeared.

Kevin growled and then sobbed heavily at the painful loss of his army that he had raised from hatchlings. Four years of hard work had been destroyed. He began typing furiously again. “M1dg3+_D3\/1L: WHO ARE YOU!?” he demanded of her.

“powerpuff_bunnie: you still have not figured it out? well, let us just say that i am a big girl now, and i just beat up my big brother!”
