Make a Disturbance

I’ll wear a pretty dress
Silken, flowing, loose hanging
Revealing and form fitting
Accentuating curves and hips
Highlighting alluring features
Color that emphasizes my eyes
Prove I am female
Beneath my ragged jeans
Common boyish t-shirts
Mismatched and unflattering
Shoes muddied from tromping about
Plain face and unpainted
A build that is rather weak
Hair unkempt and oily
Is the packaging so important
Will you not give me a second thought
Unless I’m primped and made up
Bust lifted with help of extra padding
Legs smoothed with lotion and oils
Hair chemically enhanced and fried
Femininity bolstered by artificial means

But I don’t play along
I’ll paint my make up outside the lines
Not give a care in the world what you think
A pretty dress and body makes a pretty picture
Those that stand out make a disturbance
