"Great Expectations"

(Here it goes again)

Another achievement
Another ribbon
Another accomplishment
Another award
I should be happy
And filled with glee
But this medal I hold
Brings me to my knees
The pressure it grants
To do better than before
Is a burden I can handle
I can bear no more
These great expectations
Rip me apart
This war I was winning
Is suddenly lost
Anticipation of my victory
Hurts my very soul
And yet I come to you
With great expectations of my own

But now I lay my crowns
At the foot of Your throne
And this unbearable burden
Is suddenly gone
Off of my shoulders
You have lifted this weight
I now taste true victory,
And expectations that were great
Are no longer a hindrance to me

Praise the Lord.
