MIND AND SOUL

Suffocating, I turn for answers.

The Heart beats in slow motion.

The world is dark; my eyes are closed.

While my heart thunders as an ocean.

On the shoreline of my mind,

I bid my heart unfold.

Upon this shore, break and break

What treasures the deep sea holds.

With quiet answer, life is pumped.

A river of fire through my soul.

Confused and annoyed, on the shore I plead

"What of my dreams and goals?"

"What have you hidden from me,

That could guide me through my life?"

"Can I rely on you for answers

When my mind succumbs to strife?"

Yonder, my eyes wander to the horizon.

Realizing steadily, by and by.

I cannot sea the ocean's end, could it be

That my heart could possibly lie?

All that glitters is not gold.

I know not what I know.

My soul is blocked by a dead end.

While the Heart's eternal currents flow.

"I'm a part of you, you see,"

The heart, in waves, replies.

"There are no hidden things within.

And as for lying...have I?"
