The Most Beautiful Sound

Alone with a memory,

From each place around me.

How silence is lonely,

Yet it’s shown me,

That I’ve lost my everything.

A summer without you,

Seemed to hard to live through,

But now what can I do?

Can’t say that I knew,

That someday you’d be leaving.

A longing for your kiss, the sum of all I miss,

Resonates a silence all around.

The music that I heard, every time you said a word,

Was the single most beautiful sound.

To think of all we shared,

To know that you once cared.

And I was never prepared,

Yet always scared,

Of a time you wouldn’t need me near.

The songs I wrote about,

All I can’t live without.

To just say I love you,

Or I miss you,

In a new way you could hear.

A longing for your kiss, the sum of all I miss,

Resonates a silence all around.

The music that I heard, every time you said a word,

Was the single most beautiful sound.

Is this how the story ends?

Do we just remain as friends?

Does everything have to be,

A memory,

Of the time, you were mine,

A sound so divine.
