Anachronism At The Mall

.
Under fluorescent lights you are defined
The moment is found to be quite pleasing
With a smile, we pay the shoppers no mind
And our feet take on tones of light teasing.

Together 'cross the polished floor we whirl
Reminiscent of powdered wigs and gowns
Suits, spats, ballrooms, and slender necks pearled
In the heavy rose scented air all drown.

Harsh glaring lights give way to chandeliers
And the din to an airy string quartet
Stacks of stuffed bears become a wine glass tier
Like Cinderella, real life we forget

Until with a slip and a crash we fall
Laughing at the absurdness of it all!
