DON’T MAKE ME BITE YOU

A bitter little poem about how cruel people can be. I was thinking of my boss when I wrote this.

Don’t make me bite you – I don’t think you want to die

I don’t think you want to leave this precious earth and sky

I don’t think you want to leave your life in haste

Don’t make me bite you – I don’t think I’d like the taste.

Some days you seem to doubt that I still live

Some days you take much more than I can give

Some days you chose in compliments to hurt

Some days you drive a dagger through my shirt.

I do not ask for kindness – I really could not bear

To ask of you a thing you cannot lightly share

I merely pray each night – I pray consistently

I ask a meagre portion of consistency.

Don’t make me bite you – you’re not bright enough to see

The pain you cause, despite this broken, bloodied me

You’re kitten-fluff above the stone beneath

Don’t make me bite you – I might break my teeth.
