Note: a piece of bread, right?...i have no idea why i wrote this...

Just A Piece of Bread

I was walking down the street

Wishing for meat

In the rain

That was beating my horse’s mane.

I was cold and miserable

Wishing for a situation all but terrible.

Please, sir, all I beg of you, if you can spare

Is some food, nothing more.

Just a piece of bread please.

I promise no one will tease.

I’ve been traveling for such a long time.

And I’ve surely committed no crime.

I despise being a beggar,

But sometimes being forced does my reputation mar.

I promise not to be a burden

Mostly because I’m not a warden.

Just a piece of bread please.

Nothing more.

Just one of those great deeds, sir.

I am forever grateful for.

I am a small child

With a horse of temper mild.

Get a job, you say?

I would do so any day

If only anyone would agree

And not look at mead.

There isn’t much about my life to say

Except that it’s always been full of strife.

Nothing changes day to day.

And such is one’s life.

If I did sell my horse,

So great would be my remorse

That I would cry

And eventually die.

Please, sir, all I beg of you, if you can spare

Is some food, nothing more.

Just a piece of bread please.

I promise no one will tease.

…why thank you, sir.

Here is, for you, a piece of zir.

Actually, I meant zircon.

It’s a token for your kindness.

I don’t have any diamond with me,

But next time, I will be sure to be.
