Escape

A hopeless fear of dwindling time,

Precious memories, forged in my mind.

An open wound that yearns to heal,

From a love that was once surreal.

A tattered heart of anguished cries,

A heart that simply longs to die.

Delinquent faith, relinquished dreams,

Nothing is as what it seems.

Human fate, so fickle and vain,

Destiny's naught, but sorrow and pain.

For why must life be utterly cruel?

To taunt, and laugh, and deem me "fool"?

Love is, as love was, retaining no shape,

An illusion so deep I cannot escape.

~Lady Sapphire

Random notes: I came up with the beginnings of this poem in a shower...weird, how poems always start either in the shower or after for me. Anyway hope you liked it! Kinda sad...I've been hung on this theme for some reason...ah well, I'll try to write a more happier poem some other time.
