An Island
A solitary blue is all I see,
The coldness stretching miles and miles,
Oceans of empty faces lie out there,
Carrying heavy eyes and barren smiles.
No man is an island, but
Alone
Here I am.
In this game of life that we all have to play,
Everyone wears a mask hiding rejection fear and pain,
People are all insecure, eyes filled with unspoken vacancy,
I have got your soul, the evil one sneers with disdain.
No man is an island, but
Alone
There he is.
Trying repeatedly to trust but only to get fooled by phoniness,
In our abandoned prisons we are defenseless,
Running scared we shrink away and live in loneliness,
But as we run out of time, going blindly seems so senseless.
No man is an island, but
Alone
There she is.
Watching everything as thoughts of failure spin us dizzily,
Shivering we burry into our own cocoons.
Darkness gripping our hearts as we desperately cry out,
Who can hear us? Time runs out and we need help soon.
No man is an island, but
Alone
Here we all are.
