End of a cycle

The light from my clock/radio shines in my room. It seems like it’s eating away at the darkness, telling me that morning has broken. I stare at my ceiling and try to make shapes in my mind (It’s one of those ceilings that are white, lumpy, and pieces of it fall when any little thing touches it). Time seemed to fly by, I hear my brother getting in the shower, starting his morning ritual. I get up, eat my breakfast, get dressed, and jump in the car. By this time, my brother is in the car too, ready for a long, tortuous day at school. Every day I hope to hear my mom say, “Oh no, one of the tires has gone flat” or “Oh shoot, the car broke down.” Or the one I want the most, “Look honey, the car blew-up.” But instead, I get, “Put on your seat belt.”

I sit in my first period class, history, just looking at the board, not even pretending to do anything. He doesn’t care anymore (the teacher I mean). Sure, at first he tried to motivate me, all my teachers did. But they don’t try anymore, and frankly, I don’t blame them. I was a bad student long before the insomnia. But hey, I can still pin it on someone else (It’s a hobby). If you ever meet my creator, tell him he fucked up on this little dude. I have A.D.D. For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s not some kind of terminal illness, hell it’s not even serious. It stands for attention deficit disorder. Just means that I can’t stay focused on something for a long period of time. Anyway, as class ends, I drag myself out of my desk, and head to my second period.

***

Nothing special happens in my second period, it’s P.E. I go to class, stand in line, go to the locker room, get dressed, go back in line, talk to some friends, go back to the locker room to get dressed into my normal attire, and go to my next class. Third period I geometry, a real bitch…the class I mean. The teacher? She hasn’t learned that I don’t make an effort in school. She doesn’t get my “Life is a bitch and can suck a cock” Point of View. So if sit there, she tells me to do my work, get out paper, ect. When she asks “Why aren’t you taking notes?” my initial response is a shrug. I fake the work and wait for the bell to ring.

***

Ah my fourth period. Nap time is my nickname for it…even though I don’t get to sleep, I get some rest. The actual subject? It’s a class that the school gives to people with either bad grades or with mental disabilities…I’m both. All I do there is talk to a couple of friends, one of them widely known as ‘Samurai Platypus,’ and the others…you wouldn’t know them.

***

Period 5- Biology; Period 6- English. I either read or rest in those two classes, that’s all. Then I go home, eat something, and wait for night to pass.
