My life was simple
I could live for a day
Then wake up the next
Repeat the pattern as always
No deviations from the norm
Routine and predictable
Life was a bowl of cereal
Then a ham and cheese sandwich
And a pasta dish for dinner
There was stability
Order and normalcy ruled
Until a complication arose
I would live a single day
And not want to see the next
Unless I had a partner
Some one to alter the pattern
One that could chase away the norm
Different and wild
Life was a waffle with powered sugar
Then a fast food meal combo
And a steak and potatoes for dinner
Each night and day varied
Days began when my eyes opened
To see that person next to me
I live every single day
Yearning for that lost company
Now hating my routine
Wanting the tumultuous relationship
Rather be involved and full of emotion
Than a drone that simply goes on
Life is a granola bar
Then a light snack
And a shake for dinner
Skimpy latent and dulled
Bare of fervor and liveliness
My life is nothing from simple
