In Anticipation

.

Anticipating the worse
Not knowing what is to be said
What do you want
After so much time has passed
Eager to hear your voice
But content with this distance
Is it a trick to embarrass me
Will I be the fool in the end
Should I subject myself to torture
But curious none the less
Needing to know
Investigate and take the risk
Wondering if you'll follow though
Hoping for a positive outcome
One that is mutually beneficial
Driving myself crazy
Taunting me as a gift that reads
Do not open till Christmas
Maddening silence
Stillness and anxiety
Deadly combinations
Needing closure to my wonders
Pensive motions across the room
Pacing here and there
You aren't going to speak
There is no urgent message
It's a trick after all
Fragile my emotions are already
Worsened now by this added stress
Overreacting or melodramatic
Take your pick
I'm in the middle of both
Toy with me for another second
I'll crack before the game is through
Gimme Gimme Gimme
Childish at its purest
Until you make the move
I'll be here
Waiting
In anticipation
