Medianoche Chp 1

Artemis Raquel stepped out of the darkness of the forest and into the moonlight. The wind whipped her long red hair all around. She felt no chill from the cold even though she wore black pants and a black tank top. Her pale skin looked stunning. She's a goddess of the night.

Thunder crashed, warning her. Lighting flashed, lighting up the sky. A tree fell in flames but she didn't flinch. Nothing would keep her from going where she wanted.

Nights like this are her favorites; she was reborn on a night like this. When she was a weak child these nights' scared her, but now fear was considered weak and cowardly. Being weak and cowardly in her world meant death.

The vamparic world was deadly to anything if they were weak or showed any fear.

Artemis concurred all her fears to be one of the strongest. That is why she abandoned her twin sister Kali Raquel. Kali showed her fears, she had weaknesses, something Artemis had to get rid of.

She tried to help Kali but she didn't want help, she thought that being a vampire, and having immorality was a curse. She thought that it was evil.

Artemis didn't believe that it was completely evil; she believed that it depends on the person.

The vampire who changed them was evil. Artemis remembers that night vividly.

October 31, All-Hallows-Eve 1686:

Aurora and Hanna Raquel just got back from church with their father, mother, and their two younger brothers.

It was their eighteenth birthday. If their parents weren't so well known, they probably wouldn't have made it this far without being hung for being accused of witchcraft.

They were identical twins born on All-Hallows-Eve, the night of witches and spirits. Aurora was very out-spoken for the age and she was stubborn. Hanna was very proper and was very into everything to do with church. They were complete opposites. They were accused many times just because they were identical, but they never got tried for it.

That night they decided to go on a walk. While walking around the woods they kept getting feelings of someone following them. There was a loud crack of a stick and they both froze.

Hanna said to her sister, "Aurora lets go back, this is scaring me."

They both turned around and a man stepped out from behind a tree, "Lets go the other way," said Aurora.

They turned back around and he was in front of them. He said, "Ah, hello, what are two beautiful young women doing out in the woods all by themselves?"

"It's none of your business," Aurora said.

His beautiful black eyes flashed and he appeared in front of them and grabbed them both by their throats. "I might have to teach you some manners," he breathed. "My name is Donovan, and you do not want to cross me."

He threw them both into the trees and tied them to separate trees. Aurora was dazed and Hanna was knocked out. He started walking over towards Hanna and Aurora started trying to break her bonds. He looked over and smiled at her and his teeth were larger than normal. He looked like one of the devils that the preacher described to them.

"Leave her alone!" she yelled, but he paid her no heed and yanked Hanna free from her bonds and sank his teeth into her neck.

Aurora started screaming and he looked up and said, "What you don't like me doing this do you?" He took his nail and cut open his wrist and put it to Hanna's mouth.

"What are you doing to her!" she screamed.

"Making her one of my kind," he said, "and you're next."

She started struggling more and he pulled her up off the tree and she tried to fight him. He yanked her head back by the hair and sunk his teeth in. She started getting weak and lightheaded.

He pulled away and put another cut on his wrist and put it to her mouth but she pulled away. "You better drink or you'll die," he said. She pulled away but the urge to drink was too strong. It tasted wonderful, but once it got inside it burned. Her body was on fire. She felt her breathing slow and her heart slow. Before the last beat she heard thunder crash and then she died.
