Can you blame a girl for falling?

Her life spiraling downward as she fell for him. his skin like snow and his hair like ebony. Her chiaroscuro boy. A dark fallen angel who did things real angels couldn’t fathom.

They called him Satan. They didn’t understand, didn’t see past the dark clothes and badass exterior. They couldn’t look into his heavy-lidded blue eyes and see the little boy inside. The drugs, the drinking…they was just his escape.

It’s how everyone escapes.

And so she fell. She fell hard, she fell fast, and so did he. They spent as much time together as they possibly could, smoking like the cynical slinksters that they were. Life was beautiful, glittery shimmery wondrous and perfect…when they were together. When they were apart, really apart, she broke. Like the time he was sent to a mental institution. For three weeks she was lost, a sad crumpled broken doll, a locket missing its other half.

her confidance crashed without him, her self esteem and worth vanished...she thought that if she had been a better girlfriend then maybe he wouldn't have left. she took up her old, supposedly dead habit of cutting herself.

And then the triumphant return. She flew into his arms and held him tight, not willing to let go of something so precious. they clung to each other as if the world were about to end.

can you blame a girl for falling for a boy that cried when he knew she hurt?

but they were together again, and that was all that mattered to them. the two halves again formed a whole, and all was right in this cozy little world of theirs. they spent the night together, doing nothing but holding each other in their loving arms.

the next day they went to school. saw each other between classes, which they were only able to tolerate due to the fact that they had lunch to look forward to. an entire hour to bask and revel in their soulmate's presence. they were so in love; they thought they'd be together forever.

but that day, at lunch...

two boys burst in, guns in hand, bullets and bombs strapped all over their bodies. no one noticed them at first.

a gunshot rang loud and clear throught the cafeteria. everyone froze as fear paralyzed them. the boys looked at each other and smirked. this is what they had always wanted, always craved. NO ONE dared challenge them now.

they strolled though the cafeteria, wondering who to pick off first. at the same time, their evil eyes landed on the girl and her boyfriend. they sat there, holding hands, looking terrified.

one of the boys knew 'satan' from class. they had sat near each other (alphebetical order) and joked around from time to time. so to be especially cruel, he was going to have the honor of being first. the boy signaled to his friend, and in perfect unison the stalked over to the two lovers.

the silence was unbearable as satan and the boy looked at each other.

'do you love her?' the boy put a gun to "satan's" head.

his hand tightened around the girl's. his heart pounded. he couldnt see, but somehow knew, that his girlfriend was sobbing quietly. his eyes never left the boy's face.

'yes.'

'would you die for her?'

'yes.'

'thats too bad.' everyone waited to hear the gunshot they knew was coming.

but instead, the other boy walked up to the girl, put his gun to her head...

and pulled the trigger.

can you blame a boy for falling for a girl who made him feel whole? a girl who made him feel like he belonged somewhere, with someone?

she made him want to be a better person. she made him want to settle down and marry and have children and set a good example for them. because of her, he wanted to make something out of himself.

she was his muse, his goddess, his soul mate. his inspiration and motivation. and now she was gone.

much to his despair, he made it out of that hellhole alive and unharmed. well, physically unharmed. mentally....

the day after her funeral he locked himself in his room. with him he had his father's gun. he thought it only fitting for him to die the same way she did.

the rest of his family was completely asleep. he took one last look at her picture, and the note he had laid beside it.

She'd sworn Me vows in fragrant blood
"Never to part Lest jealous
Heaven stole our hearts"

Then this I screamed:
"Come back to Me
For I was born in love with thee
So why should fate stand inbetween?"

Lyrics from a favorite song of theirs.

Tears streamed down his face as he put the gun to his head and pulled the trigger.

can you blame a girl for falling for a fallen angel? can you blame a boy for falling for a beautiful girl who was all shimmer and light?

a match made in heaven... that stayed in heaven.
