This story comes from watching too much Inuyasha, writer’s block, the fact I want to do an ‘another world’ story, and too much free time/boredom ^_^ if you’re reading this, I guess I put this story up. This is a trial run so if I get a flame, this story will probably vanish, depending on the flame… So just be nice because my self-esteem is low right now ^_^’
The Dark Phoenix Saga
Episode One - Dragged to Another World
I was just an ordinary girl… or so I thought. That is, until I was dragged into another world and told I was to fulfill some kind of prophecy! But I’ll get to that later. My name, in case you were wondering, is Suchi Yukai. A little about me; I’m about five and a half feet tall, with cerulean blue, (so I’ve been told,) eyes. My hair is in a long, skinny. dark blue ponytail.
Let me tell you a little more about myself. I wasn’t very popular at school for I was more on the shy side. I do love singing and even dancing, and my favorite food is almost anything chocolate, but I hate sour things. I’m a sixteen year old Virgo, with a birthday of September sixteenth. Anyway, enough trivia about me. My story began on a simple Friday afternoon…
“Ah…” Suchi moaned and slammed her alarm clock off. She yawned and stretched, and then sat up and stared at the wall for a moment. She shook her head. “That was a great nap…” She stretched again.
“School really wore me out today… been so tired lately.” She yawned one more time and threw on some fresh clothes. Instead of the school uniform, which she had fallen asleep in, she was now wearing a long purple skirt, which went a short ways past her knees, and a matching dark purple turtle-neck sweater.
She opened the blinds covering the windows to her balcony and let the sunlight in. It was a little chilly, but otherwise a nice, almost cloudless day. She looked at the few clouds passing slowly over and then suddenly flinched.
That dream… She thought to her self. I can remember something chasing me… and darkness… why did I suddenly think of that? She sighed. “I think I’ll go for a walk…” She sighed and grabbed her blue overcoat, threw it on, and zipped it up.
Her parents weren’t around for the weekend, so she didn’t bother to leave a note. So, she stepped out into the slight breeze, locking the door behind her. She aimlessly followed one of the side paths near her house; this one in particular headed towards the woods. She just let her feet guide her.
She stopped for a moment as a cold breeze chilled her. She looked around but didn’t see anything unusual, so she shrugged absently and continued. That’s when she suddenly heard a twig snap.
“Hey! Who’s there?” She called out, now looking slowly around herself.
“You’re very perceptive…” A voice hissed from somewhere in the trees. This caused Suchi to start to worry.
“Who are you? Why are you following me?”
“Simple; you can help rule my world!” There was suddenly a black blur and then complete blackness…
“Oh… my head…” Suchi moaned. She slowly opened her eyes and glanced around. She was leaning up against a large oak tree, which was in the middle of a clearing in the dense forest.
“Where am I?”
“On Terra of course…” Someone, or rather something hissed. Suchi saw a woman with a dark cloak covering her. She suddenly threw it of. Suchi stifled a scream as she backed into the tree.
The creature that was now before her only had the upper half of a woman. The rest of it was like a snake. She slithered closer slightly.
“I will steal your hidden power…” She hissed, her forked tongue tasting the air.
“Stay away from me!” Suchi screamed, backing up further.
“Don’t worry; it won’t hurt too much…” Her face moved closer to her, but suddenly stopped inches away. Suchi slowly opened her eyes when she didn’t feel the pain of the creatures attack.
“What?” The creature had a stunned look on its face. A moment later it hissed, and fell over dead. Rather the upper half fell over, and the snack part naturally followed. A tall woman stood to the side of the creature, a large katana blade withdrawn. She had obviously been the one to slice her in half.
“You… saved me from that thing! Thank you!” She looked over her savior. She was close to six feet, with long, dark green hair done in a high, long ponytail; she also had various long bangs surrounding her face. A shadow covered her eyes until she looked up. Those eyes narrowed at Suchi and glowed an eerie amethyst color.
“Now why would you think I saved you, hmm? I just didn’t want that lamia to have the power for herself…” She fully turned, now facing Suchi. “You see, I’d be able to make more use of your power then she…”
“What are you talking about? I don’t have any powers!” Suchi screamed.
“Hmm… so you didn’t know… I guess you never will now…” A small grin appeared on her face. “I wonder how that simple demon knew how to find you… Oh well.” She turned towards her and started walking forward, readying her katana. Suchi could do nothing but watch.
Just as the crazed woman was about to bring down her blade, there was a soft whistling sound. She suddenly growled, grabbing her hand as her sword flew out of her hand and embedded itself into the ground.
“You!” She growled as she turned to Suchi’s right. She followed her gaze, which fell upon a young looking man holding a bow with another arrow ready to shoot.
“That’s right Siri… I won’t allow you or any other demon to harm this girl!” He fired another arrow, aimed right towards where her heart would be. She just smirked as she caught the arrow in her hand and tossed it to the ground.
“You’re first arrow caught me by surprise, Kuro…” Why the two were arguing, Suchi managed to get a look at Kuro. He had long, very dark hair, and odd dark yellow eyes. He was definitely on the tall side and was wearing strange blue clothes. “But you won’t hit me again.”
“That’s what you think…” He growled as he rushed forward. Suchi saw a flash of metal as he slashed at her. She now saw that he wore a set of retractable claws on his hands. Siri easily got out of the way; she moved so fast, that to Suchi, it seemed there were shadow images of her along the path she had taken.
Some how, even when he did hit her, she deflected his blows. Suchi took this chance and started inching away. Suddenly Siri’s sword moved from the spot where it had fallen to directly in front of Suchi, stopping her in her tracks.
Suchi sighed and watched as Kuro tried to slash at her but missed most of the time. Whomever or whatever, at least in this case, she may have been, she was incredibly fast. Siri managed to grab her sword once more, and face Kuro.
“You annoy me, you half-demon…” She growled. “The only reason you have survived against me so long are those claws… But you will let down your guard and I will strike you down… and your little girl too!” She cackled and vanished in dark flames.
“What’s going on here?” Suchi screamed before passing out from exhaustion.
“Oh… my head…” Suchi slowly opened her eyes, awakening for the second time that day after being attacked. Her eyes slowly adjusted to the dim candle light. “Where am I now?”
“You are on Terra…”
“Terra?” She leaned forward.
“You must rest… I am Kuro…”
“Huh? Oh… my name is Suchi… Could you maybe tell me what’s going on?”
“Oh, forgive me young Miss Suchi.”
“Heh… just call me Suchi!”
“Yes Suchi… but on my world we have a prophecy that one from another time and place would come forth to this world and lead the way to the great power… It is hidden somewhere on this world, in the form of a small pendent…”
“What’s this got to do with me? I’m nothing that special…”
“Ah, but you are a direct decedent of the protectors of this pendent. You were supposed to be told on your eighteenth birthday, but I see that was not the case. How old are you young Miss?”
“Stop being so formal!” She shook her head. “I’m just a sixteen year old, normal, teenage girl!”
“You are wrong… you can lead me to the map pieces that show the way. The map can only been deciphered after the chosen one has touched it, so if someone does find a map piece, they cannot read it or even destroy it…”
“How come the demons are after me? Don’t they need me alive?”
“Not if they steal your life energy… then they can find the map themselves and open the way once they find the pendant’s location…”
“Eh…” Suchi said nervously. “What was with that Siri freak?”
“She is my most hated enemy… She has been after my map fragment for over fifty years.”
“Fifty years? How old are you two?”
“I am a half demon, much like an elf. Though they went extinct millennia ago.” He brushed his hair to the side, revealing slightly pointed years. “I am almost immortal, at least as far as aging is concerned.”
“And what about crazy?”
“Siri is something of another matter… on your world; do you know the legend of the phoenix?”
“Yes… it’s reborn from its ashes every now and then… I can’t remember much. She is a… phoenix?”
“Yes, in a way.” He sighed. “The phoenix of this world, though they are rare, are reborn every fifty years after they give their life energy to a creature they find worthy. They are then reborn somewhere almost instantly, and then rest and watch over the area where they are reborn. They usually take on a human form when doing this.”
“If they are killed during this time, they are reborn again, but must regain their energy all over. But Siri has embraced the darkness, and has gathered power over the years… When she dies, she only need ten years to regain her true power, which is stronger then any normal phoenix. She calls herself the Dark Phoenix…”
“Wow…” Suchi didn’t know what else to say. It was, after all, a lot of information to take in.
“And she is most definitely after you…”
“Can’t I just go home?” She asked meekly.
“Yes, but to do so would leave this world at the mercy of Siri and other power-hungry demons like her. Even without your abilities, they will find the pendent with enough time… If a demon like her got a hold of this pendent, she would be almost unstoppable. But she is not the only one searching… ”
“What am I supposed to do?” Suchi cradled her head in her hands. “I thought I was just a plain, ordinary school girl…” She sighed.
“Do not worry, Miss Suchi. I will protect you.”
“Heh… sorry, but that’s not really reassuring.”
“Rest for now, young Suchi… for tomorrow we begin out journey…” He walked out of the room, leaving Suchi on the bed.
“I wish he’d stop calling me miss… though I don’t mind the young part…” *she sighed and fell into her pillows, closing her eyes to rest…
