People say I should follow my dreams,

That you should never give up,

But my dreams have shattered,

My determination gone.

But you took my dreams away,

With your hateful words,

With your cruel, cruel laugh,

And your endless putdowns.

Every time I try to put them back together,

To piece together my hopes and dreams,

You show up once more,

And replace my happiness with pain.

I no longer try to put the piece back together,

I no longer bother to hope,

I no longer waste my time making wishes,

There is no longer a reason to try.
