I love you
As I stand on my porch

I look around me

At the world around me

I see light

The light of the moon on the garden

I hold the rope

The rope of my beloved pet

My dead dog

I can't stand it

As I get ready

To jump off the rail

A voice I hear

A voice that says

"Don't cry"

I turn

It's you

And the tears well up as you say

"I love you"

I undo the rope

I jump off the rail

I run to your arms

I start to cry

All the sadness

I ask

"Why did you leave?"

You say

"I didn't"
