Mostly, the movie was faithful to the writings of the Scriptures. It portrayed most of Jesus’s miracles that brought wonder, awe, and joy to the people who witnessed them. Although there were certain scenes that I was not quite impressed because they were not exactly as according to the Bible as I recalled, most significantly the movie showed how Jesus suffered and died for the evil around the land to vanish. And that action created a new hope for the world to cherish.

The film showed how Jesus showed the Salvation God has planned for his people, just as written in the Gospel or Christology of Luke. He accomplished a number of performances that were too extraordinary, too unbelievable, but remained true before the crowds of people who watched. His acts of love and courage brought hope to those who once lived astray and inspired them to believe that God was still there and wanted to help. These, therefore, bestowed the joy of experiencing Salvation. One particular example is when Jesus gave sight instantly to the blind man who begged for His attention. There was also a time when Jesus pitied the parents who child died in an illness, and uttered a few words. And the little girl got up at once in amazement. Such miracles that Jesus had performed for so many to see and have faith again!

Many who had seen when Jesus did these were undeniably amazed, and most went back to their homes raving they saw wonderful things that day. Those who had relationships with the person who was cured of particular illnesses—like the parents of the girl brought back to life—were joyous and some even ceased in doing evil (such as Zaccheus, the former tax collector, when he met and had dinner with Jesus). But when there were people who changed their ways, there were, of course, some who remained skeptical in this self-proclaimed “Messiah”, mainly the Pharisees and the righteous people who considered themselves higher above the rest. They couldn’t accept the fact that He was the Son of God.

But Jesus openly showed His devotion to all men and accepted people, like sinners and little children. He at times was friendly and ready to talk when needed. He knew that the crowds wouldn’t accept Him like in many prophet’s hometown—such as Elijah—but nonetheless He kept on healing and giving signs, lessons, and parables despite His awareness of their desire to put Him to death.

If I were one of the testimonies who had seen His actions, it is difficult to admit but I will surely be doubtful of this. After all, I cannot quickly believe that the Savior would come here and save us from evil after living most of our lives in suffering and hardships. But if I witnessed how Jesus willingly gave up His life to die on the cross and not save Himself, it will then dawn to me that He was truly sent from above for us to see the light in the darkness of the world. It was in this act of selfless and unconditional love that God’s Plan became evident and humankind would soon be changed forever.

Because of the movie I became more and more aware of the psalms or sayings that were written in the Scriptures, including the ones that used to be vaguely familiar. At this time my favorite teaching of was when He said, “Those who humbles himself shall be exalted, and those who exalts himself shall be humbled.”
