Only yesterday I was so far away. On the other side of these mountains. You can't see it, because my home has already blended in amongst the horizon. My home has already assumed the soft sky blue of the sky. Now even the mountain it stands on is invisible to my eyes. Your eyes, too, even though you can see as sharply as a hawk, and hear like one, too. Your muscles have always been one of your strong features, but you still will never be able to run back there.

In one day, we scaled mountain after mountain, and now we are standing on the horizon. The endless woods are tinted blue, see? I wish you could understand. I wish you knew what was going on, that there was a reason in your mind for why you are so tired. I'm tired, too, but we have to keep going. Soon they'll notice we're gone. If we're not at the spring by then, we won't be able to save ourselves. I mean, I won't be able to save you. We have to get out of here. Who knows when we can stop? Maybe when we reach the house of the sorcerer. Maybe then.

Do you remember how, just two days ago, we sat under that tree? That one, right over there, which has vanished behind the horizon. We didn't have to worry then. Do you remember how much peace there was right before the fire? Me, neither. It never happened. I think there was never peace, only fighting. I hope you don't think so, too. Now turn around, there is no more time to savor the view. We can rest, but not for long. Build a fire. You should know that I pity you. Your eyes look and your hands see, but you don't understand. I don't know what is wrong with you. Why can't I fix it?! But I will, you don't have to worry. Someday soon, your voice will outsing the blue jays, your feet will wade in every stream, and inside your head, you will think again, as well as your great mind can.
