AN: wowsers! I haven’t updated in such a long time! Like, forever! Sorry guys…I was away on vacation…

I had to reread my own story because I completely forgot about absolutely everything.  The sad thing is, I forgot where I was actually going with this……hehehe. Don’t worry…i’ll remember it soon…as I keep writing.

I actually got a lot of reviews while I was gone! That was kool! Keep ‘em coming!!!

-------

Millie woke up with a headache and puffy eyes.  She sat up groggily and looked around.  The dust fairies danced around in the sunbeams that flowed in through the windows.  Frowning, she rubbed her eyes.  She shuffled her way towards the bathroom and took a hot shower.  She climbed into her clothes and dried her hair.  She realized that Britney was back home.  Her eyes grew wide and she ran around her large house looking for her.  She wasn’t in her own room.  She could not find Britney!  Was it all a dream?

She slowed her steps, disappointed.  Her head drooped and she let out a deep sigh.  Millie’s head snapped up when she heard a long, terrified scream.  She ran to the source of the scream and then arrived just in time to see Mary pick up a chair and throw it at Demetre.  “Mary!” Millie screamed, lunging to intercede.  Demetre, of course, dodged it, but moved so that he could catch Millie.  Her eyes wide, she looked up at the tall man.  I thought it was a dream.  She looked away from Demetre’s eyes when she heard a giggle.  It was Britney sitting up and rubbing her eyes.

“Auntie, you scream very loud,” Britney murmured.  Mary just stood there with saucer-wide eyes.  She turned to Millie, Demetre, Britney, Millie, then back to Britney.

“Britney?” Mary questioned in disbelief.  Britney giggled.

“This is Mr. Deemtree.  He’s real nice.” Britney said, tugging one of Demetre’s long fingers.  Mary looked up at Millie.  Millie shrugged tearfully.

Millie and Mary walked into the kitchen and Millie began to wipe her eyes.  Mary sat down and looked up at her.  “I have no idea…it’s so…so bizarre I can’t explain it at all!” Millie breathed out, collapsing in a heap beside Mary.  Mary didn’t say a word.  “I was taking a pill when all of the sudden I was getting the door and he collided with me and bullets went flying everywhere and…it was so insane…Mary, do you think I’ve gone mad?” Millie asked, holding her sister’s hand.  Mary blinked.

“Where did you get him?” Mary asked.  Millie’s eyes grew wide.

“Mary!  I’m on the verge of breaking down and you ask where I got this man?  I didn’t get him at all!  He just appeared in front of my door with people shooting at him!  He had my daughter!”

“Well, Mildred Anderson, I say you catch him before anybody else does.” Mary replied, patting Millie’s hand.  Millie stared at her sister incredulously.  “If I wasn’t married and had three kids, I wouldn’t care if that man was from four thousand years ago or from the future.  He’s one hot piece of as~”

“Mary!” Millie cried out.  Mary grinned.

“My apologies.”

“B-but…this man…he says that times have overlapped or something…saying a whole mess of nonsense!  I don’t know what to do!”

“Well, I think you’ll have to believe him, honey, because I think he’s telling the truth.” Mary said, nodding at the doorway.  Millie turned and saw that Demetre was fascinated with the TV.  Britney was pulling Demetre here and there showing him everything.  Demetre was surprised by the telephone, the television, electric lamps, switches, and especially the stereo.  Millie smiled and Mary saw it.  “For one thing, he’s far better than that Robert of yours,” Mary muttered.  Millie’s smile faded but she nodded in agreement.  “Little Britney seems to like him far better too.” Mary added.  Millie nodded once more, watching Demetre smile as he watched Britney show him how to work a remote control.  It was then she realized what a failure of a mother she was to Britney.  It was clear Britney hadn’t missed her at all.  Britney was always away from her.  Millie had always left the responsibility of raising Britney to Maggie, the babysitter.  Millie was always caught up in her work…always.  She suddenly wanted to go up to Britney and hug her and tell her she was sorry.  Millie wiped her eyes.

Demetre looked up from Britney.  He heard gunshots and he heard his name being called.  He muttered a curse as he walked towards the window.  “Mr. Deemtree?” Britney questioned.  Demetre looked out and instead of seeing the strange street, he saw the line of trees and men browsing the area.  One of the men he recognized.  A large burly man was carrying a large rifle, his sword hanging by his waist, motioning to his men.  His name was Maxwell…the governor of the town Demetre lived in…Demetre’s enemy…Demetre’s purpose for killing his own family.  Demetre’s blood boiled at the sight of the man.  He then realized that the people in this house were in danger.  Did they see the house?

Demetre hurriedly walked away from the window and in search for Millie.  He found her in the kitchen with the woman that had screamed when she saw him.  “Ma’am?” Demetre called softly.  They both looked up.

“What is it?” Millie questioned.  She stood up at the look on his face.

“Men are he~” gunshots were fired and the three boys began to scream, along with Britney.  Sean came running in, his face red.

“What the hell is going on here?” he demanded.  Millie took charge, surprising herself as she did so.

“Go upstairs now!  Go into the bedroom and lock the door!” Millie ordered.  Mary gathered her three sons and Britney up the stairs.

“Mommy!  Mr. Deemtree!” Britney called out, but Sean hoisted her up on his shoulders and ran up the stairs.  Millie turned to Demetre.  With a questioning glance, Millie walked cautiously to the window.  Her eyes grew wide as she saw men running towards her house.  She turned to Demetre.

“What is going on?” she asked.  Demetre sighed and went to the door.

“I’ll explain later when the time is…more comfortable.” He replied.  Millie ran to lock the door.  “Don’t bother.”  He said, pulling her back.  He watched the men get closer.

“They’re going to kill us,” Millie breathed out, fear piercing her once more.  Demetre took a hold of her shoulder and turned her to face him.

“Go upstairs with the others.  I will return when it is safe.” Demetre said.  Millie wanted to complain but she saw the stern look in his eyes.  She sighed.

“Fine,” she muttered, “just don’t burn down my house.” Millie ran up the stairs and halfway there she saw Demetre walk out the door.  Swallowing and telling herself everything will be okay, she ran up the rest of the stairs and joined her family.

Demetre closed the door and walked down the steps.  Maxwell saw him and ordered his men to stop firing.  Maxwell was grinning.  “Well, well, well, Demetre, we meet again.  Have you decided to turn yourself in for the murder of your family?” he said, his voice loud so that everyone could hear.  And Millie did hear.

“It’s your doing,” Demetre muttered.

“Now, don’t go blaming things on others, Demetre, but you have a right to trial.  Men, take him.” Maxwell said, his rich voice suddenly hard and cold.  Demetre had a look that could kill, his eyes glowing with pure hatred and anger.  He did not fight as the men came and took him.  As they roughly cuffed him, Demetre looked up and saw Millie and Britney’s face staring down at him.  Britney was crying and Millie looked confused, hurt.  Demetre knew she had heard Maxwell’s words.  Someone hit Demetre’s head so that he was forced to look away from the house.  Demetre growled and held himself back from killing the man.

He was pushed and shoved forward until he heard the shattering of glass.  His head snapped up and he whirled around.  Maxwell’s men were going inside the house.  “NO!” Demetre roared.  Maxwell himself came and took a handful of Demetre’s hair, yanking his face up.  “Leave them alone!” Demetre rasped out.  One of the men kicked Demetre in the stomach.  It didn’t affect Demetre at all.

“It’s their fault for concerning themselves with a criminal,” Maxwell said carelessly.

“They didn’t know, you bastard!” Demetre spat.

“Then they should get out more, shouldn’t they?” Maxwell replied, glaring down at Demetre.  Demetre scowled as he realized something.

“What do you want with them?  You know they’re not of our world, don’t you?” Demetre asked, dread swimming around inside of him.  Maxwell grinned, growing into a chuckle and his chuckle growing into a sinister laugh.  He released Demetre.  Demetre’s scalp burned.  Maxwell walked away still laughing.  Demetre was shoved.  He tried to look behind him and he heard the cries of the children inside the house.  “Move it, you fat piece of lard!” a man growled.  Demetre’s foot shot out and connected with the man’s face.  Demetre tried to consider running or following Maxwell.  Demetre ran towards the house.  A shot was fired and Demetre sank towards the ground, darkness consuming him.  It was all his fault.  People were dying because of him.  All his fault…always his fault…
