Before The Audition
You have changed lately.
You, who uses glowing words only when the rare blue moon glows above,
You tell me more than you used to.
I question your reasons, but the questions die as
I grow stronger and more ready.
Are you trying to cushion the fall that
Only you know will come for me?
A fall which is possible, but not
Something I really think is going to happen?
Have I at long last learned all I can from you,
And are you stepping back to view what you have helped along?
The music you've brought about?
Are you seeing me for what I am,
A soul that needs encouragement to survive?
Or are you simply a man who needs respect,
and, thus, being kind the years through,
receives mine from me?
