A/N: I wrote this on Christmas Eve a few years ago. I think we were out visiting my relatives, and were driving along a quiet country road. I guess I was in one of those "phases" then or something...Anyway, my cousins liked it. Enjoy.

It's Christmas Eve

in the homes and hollers

Headlamps faintly reflect

branching skeletons hanging over the road

A December with

no snow

hills rise dark against

the starry tapestry of

the palace of the gods

I lean my chin against

the jarring sill

of a foggy window

and wonder

in the absence of emotion

if I am real.
