Chapter Two: Crispin

Crispin Leloup was on the whole a quiet young man, he loved his mother, went to the church of Zeke god of sparkly things every Thursday* and owned a second hand bookshop just off Brewers-lane.

And then they had come round, with their black spit polished boots and immaculate uniforms and taken every piece of shiny, sparkly or slightly reflective material.

That’s when he snapped.

A second handbook shop is a wonderful place to run a revolution from for the simple reasoning that the only people to come into them are as desperate as you are.

But there was something else that made Crispin Leloup different, apart from being the start of the freedom, bred and sparkly things revolution.

That thing was he was a werewolf…but only on Saturday nights and after some serious drinking.

He was proud to say it was an old family tradition that passed from father to first born son that they should be a werewolf…but now most of his family was dead or working for Sylvana so Crispin had avoided family reunions like the devil.

Then one day he had realised that he couldn’t fight the queen from inside her own walls. So he gone to the local tavern and drank his weight in strong ale, and in wolf form had slipped unnoticed passed the guards as the slaughtered the deco.

He had travelled far, mostly on foot sometimes hitching rides from friendly cart drivers in exchange for not ripping their throats out, the last one he had ridden with was coming to this village to deliver poison berries and had told him of two hero’s for hire who’s rates where low.

And then the horse had stumbled, Crispin had been thrown off into the river they we’re crossing and the man had driven off as fast as possible.

So wet and angry Crispin had walked the rest of the way, to what he was to discover where female adventures but then he had reminded himself that women wanted freedom as well and these two seemed to know what they where doing.

And then that bottle had come through the window.

~~~~~~:
Beth reached for the burning bottle and Crispin grabbed her hand quickly, pulling her and Maygan with him behind one of the desks.
“Don’t touch it!” he yelled, Maygan opened her mouth to argue with him but then there was an almightily explosion that rocked the little office, fire shot everywhere it seemed.
“It’s a very effective form of powder” Crispin explained “that reacts with fire to make an explosion”
“Wonderful!” Maygan said “you’ve blown up our office”
“Does that mean you’ll help me?” Crispin asked hopefully, Maygan looked at Beth who shrugged and offered him her hand.
“We begrudgingly accept” she dived across to her desk to pick up her shield and make up bag.
“shall we be off them?” she asked brightly, Maygan, who was attempting to pull out little bits of falling rock from her hair felt very annoyed by her chirpiness, people shouldn’t be so perky after explosions.
· Thursday is the traditional day of worship for the followers of Zeke for it is said on the fourth day when Zeke made the world he found sparkly bits in the cupboard of creation and sprinkled them onto the picture of the world, where they we’re absorbed by the glue of the earth and where hard to find with out extensive pointing and “Look! If you just hold it up at that angle…no, no into the light Sheila*!”
· No one has ever been able to tell who Sheila is but she is considers the reason why we have day and night, Sheila apparently is holding the world at the right angle so Zeke can see his Shiny things.
