My Shadowed heart, my lonely soul

Chapter I

An Angel in Shadows

When you think of family, you think of happiness, joy, comfort, and even support. The same applies to friends…unless you don’t have any. I never knew what it was like to have a real friend. Loneliness…was the only thing I knew…I never had a chance to know anything else…ever since I was conceived I have been alone. I’m not normal. I never have been, my master ensured the ultimate loneliness for me. Through all my long years…until I met her. Of course my master had no intention of allowing me to find her, and it’s only by sheer luck that I did. I was lucky indeed…it is very difficult to do anything my master does not want you to. She was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen, although so different from the rest of her kind…while all others were frolicking with the spirits of those whom had past on or guarding their post, she never was. She, like myself, always alone. Her long black hair was pulled back away from her pale face and dark eyes, and she always wore a shadowy black robe. I felt sure she could not be one of them, with their flowing blond hair and long, glowing white robes. They shunned her for

what she was; I hated them for it. They confined her to silence, although I’m still not sure how. Of course, it may have been simply that she had no one to talk to.

We were on earth the day I met her. She was there to usher some poor sap into her kingdom, I to lead him into my own. But when I saw her, I lost all urges to take that young boy with me. She spoke not a word, but she did look at me once. When she did I could see the fear, and hurt of rejection, clustered in her dark eyes.

"I intend not to hurt you, Oh sweet lady." I told her, not knowing her name.

Still she did not speak. She did however stare at me for the longest time.

"You and I are much alike, of that I am sure." I tried again. Still she remained silent.

After a few hours of mortal time she finally parted her soft lips. She spoke of her own tongue, and it was difficult to understand her at first.

"Take him, Shadow Bringer." she said softly. "His soul is not fit for my world."

After she spoke her brief tidings, a bright flash of light erupted from her vessel and she was gone. I never found out who she was, or where she came from. Although I had a pretty good idea, I surely did. She was the one my kin have spoken of. The one of the lonely fate, she was the Angel in Shadows.
