Claimer : This belongs to me.

Author’s Notes :The first story was an English Assignment, which garnered an E (which stands for Excellent, or A, in my school’s grading system). It can be found in this site, titled ‘Once’. I strongly recommend you to read it. Anyway, I liked it so much that I decided to do a story on it.

Once : The Saga

Grace Chantal Ultima  Nivernio

My name means ‘grace’, ‘song’ and ‘last, endmost, farthest’. Of course, usually our names don’t mean the slightest thing, not to the average person. Then again, I am far from average.

Everyone knows of the legend of Alpha and Omega. How they were made into Existence. How Time brought them to Graelithe and Jairalla. How the Evils were formed, and how the two beings were banished from their homes. The universe was created when Kali and Lucius sang together. Then the Dracoinnes found them. And afterwards, when the Seiraphae found the others, fourteen Beings engaged in a vicious battle. It stopped after a Seiraph killed a Dracoinne. Remorseful, the rest dropped their weapons, but this infuriated the Daemons. They transformed into the Pure Evil and washed over the bloodied Seiraph and the rest of the Dracoinnes. Alpha and Omega had no choice but to flee. In Cozmonia they dwelled and had seven children; Earth, Water, Air, Fire, Life, Death and a mysterious other who made the orbs their parents had created into planets.

This is the legend that everyone knows. That everyone thinks is real.

But it is not true. Not all of it.

After the Evil Was and infected the once-benevolent Beings, Alpha and Omega were heartbroken. They stayed, to try and convince- to change back-their fallen comrades. However, they failed, and almost died. The still-holy Seiraphae, now Aliyah, protected them from the onslaught and ordered them to escape. This they did sadly, but not before they made a promise. Even now, we still do not know what that promise was.

Alpha and Omega indeed went back to Cozmonia. They settled on Gaeda, this galaxy. It is true that their daughters were Life and Death, but the other Named children belonged to the Makers, the Element guardians of Cozmonia. In place of them were Light (with rainbow hair and silver eyes), Dark (a black-haired lad with colors like trapped jewels showing out of his obsidian eyes), Good and Humanity. Good was the opposite of her brother Light. Her hair was the color of the heavens, twinkling stars against the purple-black of her hair. Like the Seiraphae of old, her eyes constantly changed color. Humanity was a carefree lad with violet hair and deep, brown eyes.

The 7th child was Alyxandrina, a girl so different yet so alike from her siblings. She had all the gifts of Light and Dark. She was to live an incredibly long life, but was mortal as Humanity. Her core was pure and Holy, and to her an enormous burden was given. She, as well as her descendants, would guard Cozmonia and the entities in it. Protect Good and Humanity with her life, and use the gifts bestowed on her well. And one day, her descendant, her reincarnate would fulfill the promise and a strange destiny laid out to her by Time...

...Alyxandrina, the defender of mankind.

Most historians doubt this version of the story. They find it so hard to believe that their fates are entrusted to one single girl, with power not even the High Priestess of Savarrah can muster. Early in the Fairael Century, some 5 hundred years ago, they had decided to not to reveal this part of the legend to the public. They tried to burn down all the writings and wipe out all the records of there ever being proof of the truth. To this day, now, no one knows of the legend…instead, they all believe that Kali and Lucius are still watching us, their children, from the heavens and still singing.

            If only they knew.

I remember when I was a much younger child that my parents would take me to Nana. She would smell so warm--just like fresh-baked bread. She used to spoil me rotten. Sometimes, during rainy days, she would have me sit on her lap while she regaled me with stories. With her, I was suddenly in the battle of K’lorquam, or high in the tower with Princess Elyza waiting for her beloved. Nana’s voice was rich and well toned, just like a master storyteller, and once I listened to it, I soaring in the clouds high above the valley of Ysraad or swimming in the sacred waters of Jiveli.

The stories I liked the most were of the adventures of Alyxandrina and her descendants. Her sacred sword the Krusiel, the pendant Maija, which was supposedly made for her by the stars, and many more…these were the items that she was known to have. Nana would say that she slew the seven-headed dragon Hydaera. Alyxandrina the VIII once had to sing with the Cozmonia, the ancient Harmony. Alyxandrina L married the Prince of the Gentys, thus adding the magic of snow to the Alyxandrinian line of power. There were so many fantastic stories that I wished were true. One day, I asked my grandmother if they were.

            “Nana?”

            “Yes, dearest-to-my-heart?”

            “Are they real?”

            “Who?”

“The people in the stories: Alyxandrina, Prince Gerwin and Princess Miyuki. I wish they were.”

She smiled and hugged me. “Only if you believe.”

I believed in them so much. My elder sisters (I was the youngest daughter, seven in all) would roll their eyes when I would try to convince them to play with me. In my games of Pretend, I would of course be Alyxandrina. I wanted so badly to be her.

            What a fool I was.

Well, that’s it. I’d upload the next chapter. Any comments, suggestions, declarations of profanity? I accept criticism, as long as the flames constructively advise and not blather on about how abysmally insipid this story is. I am building this up, you know.

            Until next time…

May the Force be with you.
