Unwanted Child

Wretched and unwanted

Alone in this dark world

Scornful, bitter words they chanted,

With burning eyes and fists curled.

Miserable and dejected,

Running from place to place,

Everywhere I go I’m rejected,

Spat at with loathing at my face.

“Ugly child,” aloud they’d yell,

Eyeing me with hateful scorn.

“Go back to the filthy hell,

Where in there you were born.”

Deformed and hideous,

They avoid me like some disease

Parents pull children away, furious,

This torment will never cease.

Those who loved me along time ago

Now turn me from their doorway.

Their kind, fake words a fading echo

As they hiss at me like some abandoned stray.

With ragged clothes and hair all over blown,

They whisper that I’ve turned wild

But in truth I’m standing all alone,

A despised, unwanted child.
