Hey! Please review me and tell me what this is like. Its not very good because its only a first draft and I wrote it when I was 10.Please tell me what you think.
Jaymie thought she was normal, but when she and JJ stumble upon a dark room, they are catapulted into an icy, evil world. They meet the terrified Children of the Darkness, and at the centre of their terror, the Master.
LIGHT Chapter Seven HELP FROM A STRANGERShe struggled and struggled but the icy hand did not let go of her heart. The Master laughed as he tugged at her breaking heart.
“This is it,” she thought, “they all depended on me and I can’t even save myself!” Suddenly, Master yelled and loosened his grip. Immediately, all the strength rushed back into her and she reached up to her body. Behind her she could hear someone sobbing, someone who sounded familiar. She could hear him shouting and roaring at the familiar person. But she couldn’t hang around, the person who had saved her was sobbing and was weakening, he would be back on her tail soon.
Jaymie pulled herself awake and put her hand on her heart. It was beating fast and her chest was cold. What about JJ? Why hadn’t he shaken her awake when she was in trouble? Jaymie turned over and stared at JJ. He was asleep. She shook her heavy head and sighed. She’d tell him off later. She was just about to get up when she saw something on JJ’s arm. Scratches, lots of them. He had his teeth clenched together that slowly changed into a grin. There was a bruise on his cheek that seemed to appear out of nowhere.
“Oh I’m just tired and imagining things!” she told herself. She shook her head again and rolled out of bed. She felt like she had been in a deep sleep for hundreds of years! She rubbed her chest once more and looked out at the diminishing golden light. She hadn’t been gone long by the look of the light although it seemed like it. She kicked JJ a few times in his side to wake him up.
“WAKE UP!” she cried, but the reaction she got was not what she expected. He opened his eyes suddenly and roared as if in anger. Jaymie jumped back in surprise and stared at JJ uneasily as he calmed down.
“Sorry,” he murmured. Jaymie shrugged and then explained what had happened. But JJ seemed uneasy, guilty and when Jaymie asked him about it he immediately put up the barriers.
“Leave it Jaymie! Ok?” he insisted. The rest of the day JJ tried to avoid her, leaving her to sort out what to do next on her own.
Jaymie thought long and hard about what Lesley had said. She seemed scared.
“Well, who wouldn’t be if they were in that darkness forever?” but no matter how hard she tried to find an answer to her troubles, one thing kept jumping back into her confused mind; JJ. He was acting so strange and little did she know that it was her that was troubling him.
Jaymie was sat on a bench in the nearby park. She had been there for hours debating with her conscience of what to do next. When an old stranger came up and sat by her. She sighed and said:
“It’s a lot of trouble being light bearer isn’t it?” Jaymie jumped up in surprise and stared in amazement. How could this strange woman know anything about her troubles?
“Yes,” the woman said, “I know.”
“But, but how? I mean I don’t even know in a way!” the woman looked at her kindly and Jaymie immediately relaxed. She sat down and stared at her feet sadly.
“Why me? I can’t even make toast without burning it. So how am I supposed to save hundreds of children from something I don’t know anything about?”
“That’s what I’m here for. You’ll save the kids with your power.”
“What power? It hasn’t shown up and if it has I don’t know how to use it!” she cried, shaking her head.
“That’s what I’m here for, to help and teach you.” Jaymie looked at her again doubtfully. How could an old woman teach her how to attack a thing of darkness?
“Come with me.” Jaymie hesitated. She knew nothing about this stranger, and so it was dangerous to follow her but somehow she was drawn to this woman. Curiosity getting the better of her she stood up and followed. From then on her life would change forever.
TEACHING AND LEARNINGThe old woman stopped at a wall and took out a small silver box that was no bigger than a thimble. It shone as brightly as the sun and Jaymie put her arm across her eyes to shield them from the light. The woman placed it on the top of the low wall and stood back. Jaymie waited for something to happen but nothing did so she looked at the woman who was staring at the sky. Jaymie lifted her gaze to see what was there. The woman gasped and Jaymie scanned the pale blue sky, for what she did not know. Nothing was there apart from the sky and so she sighed and looked down disappointedly.
“Look closer my dear. Look for the slightest thing.” Said the woman.
“What slightest thing?” she asked, “I can’t see a thing. How do I know what to look for?”
“If you’re the true light bearer, you’ll see it.” The woman watched this young girl lift her gaze once more and search the sky with her glittering brown eyes. She looked and looked and the teacher pleaded for her to find the sign. Hope slipped away with the minutes and the woman sighed. She didn’t have it. Jaymie saw the hope gone from the woman’s eyes and doubts enter them. She was now even more determined to find this ‘sign’ than before. Then something inside her said ‘close your eyes.’ And so she closed them and delve deep in side her soul. The woman looked at her pupil to find her eyes closed and she felt her going into her soul. ‘She’s the one’ she thought and smiled at this young girl who had it in her to break the darkness.
Jaymie went deeper and deeper with her mind and everywhere in her was getting brighter and she was getting lighter and lighter. Slightly her feet left the ground and she shone. Feeling herself lift of the ground she came out to the world again and grinned. The woman was smiling at her so she must have done it.
“Now to get you stronger and teach you how to use your power. Oh and by the way I’m Maria.” Jaymie darted back to the Wade house filled with excitement. She would return the next day and her training would begin.
That night Jaymie and JJ made a pact never to fight again and Jaymie was desperate to show JJ what she had learnt but Maria had sworn her to secrecy. So she told JJ that she was going to go back to the darkness. But he just grinned oddly and said ‘Oh’. She settled herself down and closed her eyes. JJ lied on his side facing her and grinned again. She was there. With that he settled himself down again and closed his eyes.
“Lesley?” she cried but no answer came. There was a deadly silence. No sobbing or crying, nothing.
“Hello?” she said again, “Hello? Anyone?” the silence stifled her and so she thought of the happiness in her sole. Then the evil laugh surrounded her and got closer. But Jaymie was more confident this time. She gritted her teeth ready for the ice hand, but it never came. The laughter changed to an evil voice that spoke to her mockingly.
“Oh no the light bearers come! Oh no help me, help me, and please don’t hurt me! OOOOOOOOhhhhhhhh! Scary!” he laughed a bit more and came a bit closer to her bringing his icy cold breath with him.
“You’ll be sorry!” she exclaimed, “when I’m done with you you’ll be saying all those words pleading mercy to me and everyone else of these kids who you’ve plagued!”
“Well that’s very touching but I’m going to have to kill you now. Goodbye!” he threw out an icy black hand and grabbed her heart once more. He squeezed and pulled as she gasped for breath and fell to her knees. Her whole body filled with ice and she felt it trying to get to the light inside.
Lesley was crouched at the side with Martin and Amy and Tobe. They watched as their hope of being free was crumbling away. Lesley couldn’t contain herself any longer and screamed out,
“Your power Jaymie!” He dropped his concentration from Jaymie for a minute as he sent a plague of evil to Lesley who screeched and fell back shivering and struggling for breath. It was the moment Jaymie waited for; she delved into her sole again and found the light. She wasn’t strong enough to do any damage but it scorched his evil hand and gave her a chance to escape. She pushed her self up and up as he yelled and followed her. But she had a power to go a little faster than last time and touched the light outside. She opened her aching eyes and put her hand to her breast. She was warm. JJ was at her side clutching a red hand. She was beginning to wonder and realize but she wouldn’t listen. “No, not my best friend” she told herself, “he’s not and never will be!” she grabbed her clothes and when she was ready ran down stairs. Pushing the thoughts of JJ to the back of her mind she wrote a note to her dad and set off to her meeting place with Maria. First day of training, one day closer to freeing the children of the darkness.
THE TRAINING
By the wall as last time stood Maria. She was wearing a pure white robe and shall that shone like silver. Jaymie looked down at her own clothes. She had on a pair of shorts, a tee shirt and her old trainers.
“Oh well, no time to change now.” She thought as she walked over to the wall and sat on it.
“Today is the first phase of training. You must build up your power.” Maria’s voice sounded like a wise ones voice, soft and calming. “Come stand by me.” Jaymie jumped down and stood uneasily be Maria. She told her to close her eyes and go back to her soul, to find the light and make it brighter. Jaymie had mastered the soul part already and soon shone again. “Now, think brightness, think stronger, make the light grow!” Maria’s voice rose and she lifted her arms. Jaymie did as she was told but soon found out that it was harder than it sounded. She thought “brighter, brighter” but the light stayed the same and gradually faded. Maria watched her pupil. She wasn’t trying hard enough, she was fading, and the light was fading. Jaymie opened her eyes as the light went down. She looked up at Maria and said, “Oops.” “Oops! You weren’t trying hard enough. You must feel the power and embrace it! If I told you to grow would you grow?” “No.” “Good we have an understanding! Now try again and this time embrace it!” Jaymie closed her eyes once more and felt the light. Instead of telling it to be brighter she felt it’s warmth and it’s power. She smiled and embraced the light, feeling it be brighter. Maria saw Jaymie shine once more, but this time silver and gold. Anyone who looked up to the hill with the wall would see a blinding light of warmth and power. Then she lifted off the ground. “Yes, yes!” cried Maria, “keep it! Keep it!” but as Jaymie felt herself off the ground as before, she opened her eyes. “I did it!” She exclaimed, jumping up and down with pride. “Yes but you didn’t hold it!” Jaymie stopped jumping and her self esteem deflated a little. Maria saw how pleased she had been and said, “You did very well. But now if you lift off, you are to leave it and keep embracing the light ok?” Jaymie grinned again and nodded her head vigorously. She left Maria and skipped down the hill and back to the Wade house. It was already afternoon and her dad would be worried about her. When she got in though her dad wasn’t worried at all and was again busying himself with the preparations for the tourists. She found JJ in the dining room setting the table for tea. She helped him and then they ate. Later JJ said something odd, which made Jaymie remember her thoughts of that morning. “So miss light bearer, how’s soul light training coming on?” Jaymie shot her head around and stared at JJ. “W-What?” she stammered, “I didn’t tell you anything like that!” JJ looked horrified at what he said and looked like he was having trouble with covering it up. “Oh! I urm, you said, forget it Jaymie. Please forget what I said.” He looked down, as Jaymie’s thoughts became reality. “The only people who know about that is Maria and, and the Master!” she stared at JJ and shook her head, “No, no it’s not true! It can’t be!” “Jaymie please, I’ve got to go.” Jaymie was still in shock as JJ ran up stairs. She suddenly snapped back to her senses and went after him. Then she wished she hadn’t. Jaymie shouted his name and looked in all the rooms. Lastly she came to Lesley’s old room. She pushed opened the door and reluctantly looked inside.“JJ!” she screamed, terror creeping into her. JJ was stood by the bed, he had an evil grin on his face and his eyes glinted red.
“You’re too late Light Bearer! I have a new body now and it is time for the end! Say good bye to your friend!” and with an evi laugh that would chill you to the bone he faded away in the body of her best friend. Jaymie stood there, horror stricken. Tears pricked her eyes as she screamed her friends name once more.
“How could I let this happen?” she sobbed, “And what did he mean the end?”
