I'll dip my brush in colorful pots
My paint is my soul and your dreams, which I've stolen
While you slept.
My vellum stretched
Like my patience you try
Water and my brush skim
Sleek on the surface.
I'll paint you;
Peaceful in sleep
Sunlight lances off your shape and you
Don't notice I'm not beside you.
Vermillion S of your spine
I'm forgetting what you look like.
Pause by my canvas
Is that you over my shoulder?
Still in dust-trapped sunlight
I hold my breath and hope for you.
If I stay, just there, I swear
I can feel your babybreath
I'll stop writing now;
I want to paint you
Before your aura slips away.
