Matt opened his eyes and squinted in the sunlight. A girl with white-blond hair leaned over him, smiling. "What are you doing just lying there? You're not even dressed for the festival yet!"
A slight breeze ruffled through the grass and a cloud shifted over the sun, allowing Matt to see more clearly. He sat up and ran a hand through his own amber colored hair that fell over his eyes when he slept. "I was just taking a nap...anyways I still remember the time, when I was seven, and the moons aligned."
"But Matt it only happens every ten years! Next time it happens we could be...old." She exclaimed, emphasizing on the "old". "And besides, it's only on this time around it falls on my Day of Life. Will you please reconsider coming to the festival?" She begged slightly.
He let out a heavy sigh. "I suppose if you're so insistent..."
"Uh yes?"
"...I guess I could make an appearance."
"Oh thank you Matt!" She said, knocking him over in a hug.
"Hey! Take it easy...sheesh."

The cool night air felt good against Zoe's face as she stepped away from the huge bonfire. She stared up at the two moons, Nester and Laufa, and saw they were side by side. //Those moons are like me and Matt. Only one day I hope we can be together...//
"There you are. For I minute I thought this was just gonna be a waste of time."
Zoe turned around to see Matt in his red kimono. "You came! You look great when your in formal clothing."
"I feel like such a dork..." He muttered though giving her a smile.
"The moons are about to align! Don't forget to make a wish!" She said, leaning on his shoulder slightly.
"I'm gonna wish for what I did last year." He put his hands together in mock prayer. "Dear Triad, please don't make me wear this stupid outfit next time."
Zoe laughed. "No wonder your wish didn't come true. Your wish is supposed to be honest and I think you LIKE wearing your kimono!"
Suddenly the fire went out and everyone in the village stood out on the shore of the lake and bent their heads in prayer. During the one minute the moons were aligned, people muttered their prayers but Matt and Zoe kept theirs silent.
Zoe closed her eyes tightly, as if opening her eyes would reveal her secret wish. //Dear Triad, please let me stay forever with Matt, even if he doesn't love me. I want to be with him always.//
At the same time Matt kept his eyes shut, trying to think of something he wanted. //Well Goddess...I can't think of anything of high virtue or any of that kind of thing but I do want to go on an adventure. Oh and Zoe can come too I guess.//
Then the alignment was over, many people stood and watched the two moons while others shuffled off in hopes their wishes would be granted right away. Eventually, Matt stood alone on the beach. "Huh I guess everyone else already headed in for the night. I think it's my time to sleep too." He said, suppressing a yawn. As he walked along the beach he saw something in the sand glint off the moonlight. He reached down and pulled the corner of it up and seeing that it was a card. He felt that there was a thin, flimsy material that covered the card. It was too smooth to be paper and it was clear. Not worrying about that, he held the card up in the bright moonlight. It was big, about the size of his hand if he put his fingers together. He carefully read the card which in the middle showed a picture of another planet that had land, sea, and ice like his only this planet had more sea than land where his planet was one whole land with huge lakes and rivers. The card inscription confused him. It seemed more like a spell like what was written on the Sanscripts in the Temples of Life and Death. "Rift." He read the one word that was titled at the top of the card and read the words below the picture. "As there holes in time, there shall be a hole in space. Bring along and align the worlds so they may see and touch each other. But as these worlds touch they shall blend and like ink, never regain their true colors." //Oookay...whoever made this was a real nutjob.// As he had just finished his thoughts the card glowed slightly in his hand and sent a sharp electric volt through him. "Ow! What the hell..." The card crackled with electricity as Matt slowly began to tilt. "Feels like a bind spell, can't feel my hands or le.." Then he was gone. In the morning the village gathered to have a meeting concerning two youths that went missing during the night. Zoe Aramaki and Matt Hatachi.
