"Damn it..It's been three months sense that night..sense Rebecca..sense her.." When he spoke of her, he placed his hand back over heart. He sighed deeply and sat forward, resting his arms on his knees and closed his emotionally torn eyes and thought for a moment, only to be interrupted by an all to formillar voice.
"Dan! Hey! Whatcha doin?! There's a big fight out in the court yard! Come and see!" Danny raised his head to look at the ambitious, lady killer friend of his-Tal who quickly took off toward the fight once he realized he had caught Danny's attention. Tal was a full Elf, unlike Danny; and was of the few who had yet to befriend him. Tal was of Wood Elven origin, so that meant that he was tall, big and built yet despite his intimidating appearance he was certainly like a big lap dog more than half the time. Yet like all gentle things, Tal had a temper unlike any other once..You finally got him there. Also to despite his gentle nature, Tal could fight almost better than Danny could but due to a past welding accident that accured to Tal when he was younger, his right hand was slightly imboile and left him to constantly keep it coverd with white bandanges. Dan slowly rose from his resting spot that he had claimed and followed the distant image of Tal that ran toward the court yard. When he approached the already massive crowd of people, the fight had mostly been broken up; Dan peered around the mass amounts of people to catch a glimpse of the two anger driven fighters. Two villagers, one of which now lay immobile in the dusty ground. Tal came over and thumped one of his fairly large hands down on one of Dan's muscular shoulders.
"Black smith vs. Merchant! Black Smith knocked the merchant out with a horse shoe.." Tal shuddered lightly and rubbed the back of his hand on his neck "He's going to feel that one in the morning.." Dan turned around and smiled at Tal whose blond hair lazily fell in front of his crystal blue eyes. Tal wrapped one of his muscular arms around Dan's shoulder "So Danny- Boy, what the heck took you so long to get over here? What were your dreaming about anyway..?" Tal let a mischievous smirk escape from his handsome face. Tal was a natural show off, and a natural blonde which gave Dan full access for random jokes about his hair color; when Tal had his moments. When walking together, it was hard to distinguish the two as just friends, and not relatives. Many times before they had been mistaken for twins, despite the difference in hair and eyes. Dan smirked lightly as he began to walk with his friend.
"Nothing important.." Dan studied the ground upon which his feet walked as he spoke, his eyes becoming distant. Tal quirked a brow and continued walking with his friend.
"It was about Rebecca..Wasn't it?" Danny jerked to a stop, his eyes trembling as he clenched them shut, but he slowly relaxed as he felt the grip of Tal's shoulder. "You have got to stop blaming yourself for what happened..she wanted it and you know it!" Dan brushed off Tal's hand with his own.
"If I had stayed closer to her during the fight..She wouldn't have ended up the way she did in the first place." Dan glared at his friend and then turned his back to him.
"Listen..Dan..You were trying to protect your home, there for you were trying to protect Rebecca as well.." Tal stopped his sentence short; he saw Dan cringe and tense with emotional pain.
"S..she was the only family I had left..'Becca..my little sister.."
"And you should know..you did her the greatest favor of all..Danny- Boy." Danny sighed and ran his fingers through his shaggy, rich dark brown hair.
"Let's just drop it..for now, K Tal?" Tal shrugged and smiled sheepishly.
"Whatever buddy, but I'm starved! Let's go get something to eat, what do yeah say?" Dan sighed, if there was something that was always on Tal's mind it was food, and or shiny objects with lethal edges. Tal .. "Bounded" off to go get some grub, hoping his best friend would soon follow after him. Dan shook his head side to side as he watched his friend happily bound his way through the crowds of people of which he toward over, and then Dan craned his neck up carefully to study the pale clouds that swam across the sky's surface. He closed his eyes and let the steady breeze brush through his hair, and let the rays of sunlight warm his face as he whispered gently.
"'Becca..I hope your free..and happy..where ever you are.." Dan turned on his heels to follow Tal at his own pace.
Dan sat at the table with Tal, who was busy eating, and drinking the time away while Dan sat deep in though, visions of the Angel flashing through his mind.
"Why is it I can't get her out of my mind..she haunts me..with her broken wings and bloody hands..she haunts me..how much longer-"
"Dan? Buddy your getting that look again.." Tal cocked an eyebrow attached to a suspicious look.
"What look?" Dan glared lightly at Tal who was peering at Dan over a glass of wine.
"The look like your about to rip your hair out and go a little crazy if you don't figure something out soon." Dan's glare intensified as he stared at Tal longer.
"Yeah..That's the look" Tal took the last swig of his wine before slamming the goblet down on the table in a satisfied manner. "Dan..You're far too easy to read. Maybe it's just me knowing you for so damn long, but.." Tal closed his shocking blue eyes, his hair shadowing pieces of his face as he tilted his head down in a thoughtful manner. "You can't keep running from it."
Dan shifted his hallow eyes up at an angle of which he could peer at the intinsity of Tal's blue orbs.
"What do you mean by that?"
Tal rested his harms on the table, his right hand over lapping his left. "Dan..what happened that night?"
"What night?" Dan's voice hinted arogance and a sheild of his actual knowledge toward Tal's qustion. Tal slammed his hands down on the table, standing with action.
"Don't play stupid, Danny! What happened that night with Rebecca!"
"You know what happened.." Dan rose from his place at the table. "Why do you presist on persueing this matter farther than what I have told you, Tal?" Tal's eyes followed Danny's movements, the rest of his body staying still and stiff his voice low and swift.
"I was that day, Danny..or do you forget? I blame myself just as much for that day back in the village.." Tal hung his head pieces of his pale hair shadowing his morunful eyes, his hands still firmly planted on the the table as he bent his back over in a depresset state. He slowly curled his fingers in under his palms, a tear slipping from shock blue eyes. Dan positoned his body to look at Tal from the side, his eyes going from cold back to a swirling luke warm of sympathy.
"Tal..Why is it we cant let this go.? Yet we shake of battle wounds like nothing but a papper cut?"
Tal lifted his head slightly and opened his now steady orbs of blue glass "Because, these wounds bleed of the loss for eternity.." Tal straitend himself up to look at Dan face to face, his eyes shifting with his voice as his mind slowly began to play into serious mode. "Dan, I never told you all what happened that day.."
[And the plot thickens.]
