You give our tired class an activity

And you tell us to pick up pens and write

Force us to release creativity

And let it spread its full wings and take flight

You threaten that this single assignment,

Compared to others, is worth a lot more

We are scared to fail, scared of confinement

If we do not quickly finish this chore

My solution is basic and easy

It requires no display of emotion

It requires nothing cheap or cheesy

Just become the cause of a commotion

By writing something new, unexpected

But making it all seem so connected
