Rebecca glanced wearily at the clock on the upperleft corner of her class. Ring. She willed it. Ring, dammit, RING! She set her head down at her desk with a thump.

"Rebecca."

Rebecca glanced up to see her overly mean Biology teacher standing over her desk.

"Just because it is the last day of school does not mean that you get to nap! I am trying to prepare you and your classmates for next year's classes, and you decide that it's time to sleep?"

"Sorry Ms. Chilton. It won't happen again." she muttered, no emotion in her voice.

"I should think so!" Ms. Chilton sniffed. "Now Rebecca, who was the first prime minister of canada--" RIIING!!!! Just as the last word of her question set in, the school bell rang.

Rebecca let out a sigh of relief.

"REMEMBER CLASS!" Ms. Chilton yelled to the unresponsive kids that were filing out of the class, slapping each other high fives on the way. "Study your reading list. Grade 11 is not as simple as grade 10!" Yeah. The reading list is really what I'll be studying, thought Rebecca.

"That was such a close one!" One of Rebecca's closest friends, April exclaimed. They were sitting in the front foyer of the school, waiting for Rebecca's mom's car.

"I know!" Rebecca said in awe. "I thought I would choke for sure."

"Gives new meaning to the phrase 'Saved by the bell'." April smirked.

Rebecca laughed. "Yeah...now where is my mom?" she asked glancing down at April's watch. "She should have been here a half an hour ago."

"Maybe she's just running late." April soothed. "You know how mom's are."

"Yeah, my mom is probably still packing everything in the house."

"Well you ARE going to be away for the WHOLE summer!"

"I know, it sucks but you'll be coming out with us for a week in August so don't pout. Going to see your dad in france will be tres fun." Rebecca smiled, using a french word in her sentence. Madame Labelle would be so proud!

Rebecca was going just to where she went, every summer. Well at least every summer since she was 5. Her cabin in Wobamon lake! It would be so much fun, just like it was every summer.

A friend of her's since she was 6 would be there. Well, he was mostly Rebecca's brother's friend, but she could only dream right? He and her brother, Derek went to school together (They were both in their first year of college, while Rebecca was 3 years younger then them) He always treated her like his little sister, always ruffling her hair and calling her squirt. Oh and what else??

She was in love with him.

Ever since she was 11. That year she had discovered the greatness that was guys. Backstreet boys, N Sync, ect. She came to her summer home, to see him. He was 14, and starting to get a nice body. He had developed good looks..dark brown hair, blue eyes, adorable smile. She viewed him suntanning with his shirt off. To her, he was god. She immediately fell in love with him, spying on him every summer. But every year she thought she was old enough for him...Old enough for that ruffle of hair, and calling of squirt to stop. She hasn't been yet. Well this year she was a woman!..Almost. Would be turning 16 in the middle of July.

She would make damn sure that Connor (yes, that was his name) noticed her.

"Rebecca! Earth to Becky! Dreaming of Connor?" she smirked.

"Yeah." a soft smile, spread across Rebecca's pretty features. "Do you think he'll ever see me as anything but 'squirt', A?"

"Of COURSE! This is the year, he falls for you Becks. You are lean, and beautiful. With big boobs to match." she said, poking Rebecca in the chest.

"Oh thanks." she rolled her eyes with a smirk.

"No seriously, I hope he does fall for you. Because that would be THE most amazing thing." April smiled. "And besides," she grinned, elbowing Rebecca in the ribs. "When he gets with you, I can get with Derek."

Rebecca laughed at her friend's crush at her 'hunky' [as April put it] blonde older brother. "We can all dream, A."

April kicked Rebecca with a laugh.

Just then Rebecca's mom drove up in her forest green jeep.

"Come on, lets catch our ride." Rebecca smiled at her friend, taking her hand.

"3 dollars for a necklace?! Forget it!" her mother glared at a homemade gifts pedler.

"2.50..as low as I can go." the man grunted.

"No." her mother shook her head. "2." take it or leave it.

The man growled, taking her mother's dollars while handing her the beautiful woven pink necklace.

"How do you like it honey?" she asked, tying the necklace, around her daughter's neck.

"It's nice mom." Rebecca smiled. "Now can we go? I really want to get to the cabin. PLEEEEASE."

It was their tradition as mother and daughter, to stop at farmer's markets on the way to the cabin they stayed at with Connor's family. She usually loved it, but now that this was the fifth stop, Rebecca was getting slightly exasperated and impatient.

"Oh alright." her mom sighed, rolling her eyes. "Lets go." she smiled leading the way to the jeep.

"We're here." her mom sang softly as they pulled up into the gravel driveway to the burgendy cabin. Rebecca jumped out, to stretch her legs and glanced longingly at the lake, with the sturdy red dock, the seadoo, and paddle boat, floating beside it. "Not tonight honey." her mom patted her arm. "Its too late..besides there'll be plently of time for that later."

Rebecca nodded. Besides, she had to concentrate on the task at hand.

They grabbed their bags, and some groceries and headed into the house.

They walked up the carpetted steps from the basement into the living room/kitchen/dining room on the main floor. Rebecca heard a high pitched shreik.

"LIZ! REBECCA!" Christine, Connors mother, and Rebecca's mother's best friend ran over and gave her mom a long hug. Then she turned smiling at Becky with a big smile. "Oh how beautiful you look Becky. You are just getting more gorgeous every year." she said the same thing that she said each year. (and that she said to Rebecca's brother, except substitute beautiful for handsome.) Christine then gave Rebecca a hug. "The boys are inside, here. Charlie went fishing." she said, reffering to her husband.

"Derek's in here?" she asked. "Where's my baby! Derek!!" she called.

"Mom!" Rebecca heard a manly yell. She saw her muscular brother (he played Football) run over to her mother and give her a hug affectionately. Her mother, squeezed him back.

Rebecca's whole family was affectionate..she guessed thats where she got it from.

"Hey Becky! You look cute." he hugged his little sister tightly with a smile.

"Isn't she looking lovely..really turning out." smiled Christine.

Rebecca's pale skin blushed with embarassment. She heard a cough from behind her.

There was Connor. Looking as tall, dark and handsome as ever. Her breathing excellerated, and she pulled on one of her two long auburn braids, nervously.

"Mrs. Reynolds." Connor smiled, giving her mother a tight hug.

"Becky. How are you?" he asked, giving her a sly smirk.

"Good." she smiled slightly, blushing furiously. "How you been?"

"Fine.." he paused opening his arms for a hug, motioning to her. "Get over here stranger. Where's your manners?" he asked.

She gave him a tight hug, breathing in his familiar scent. (Old spice, soap and Calvin Klein cologne) He put his arm around Rebecca's shoulder and lead her into the kitchen, the adults and her brother following. "So how ya been? Hows school?" he asked.

No squirt.

No ruffle of hair.

Thank god.

This would definetly be a good summer..
