Chapter 17

Chris sighed looking around the dump, burnt wood and glass lay everywhere. "I don't see him anywhere sir."

"Keep looking!" John called back. John sighed kicking a few pieces of plywood around. Dust and dirt were everywhere, parts of the ground actually still smoking.

"What the hell happened here..." Chris whispered to himself. He strained his eyes to look around and gasped. "Sir! Something is moving!" he cried out running towards it, John quickly following him. He caught up and stopped in front of of a pile of dirt, someone underneath it moving.

"What if its not Mike?" Chris asked looking at John.

John shook his head. "I don't know..." he said softly. A hand shot up through the dirt, both John and Chris jumping back, they sighed in relief when Mike stuck his head out, and stood up.

He smiled. "Hi guys."

"Mike!" Chris said smiling. "Did you?"

Mike nodded looking around. He scratched the back of his head and smiled. "Yea."

"That's great! So then its all over?" Chris asked.

Mike's face went serious. "No." he said and flew into the air.

Mike landed in front of Scott's lab, police were now gone. He gasped as he felt a small pain in his head, and suddenly a voice was heard, a voice from the past, a voice from the real man who wanted to warn them...

This warning is not just to us, but to everyone, its for everyone to know the truth about themselves, about all of us. Since the beginning of time, the Earth and its residents have lived in peace, in harmony, nothing disturbing them. Yes animals do kill each other, but not for money, or jelousy or because thier significant other cheated with someone else. They killed each other to survive, so they they could survive, and they never took out another species.

I have never seen a human being kill another for reasons of food, or to wear thier skins for warmth, no human beings are different from all the other species in the world. We think that we are special, that because of our brains, and our ability to talk and build huge cities and all this technology that we are better then everyone else. But who is to say that the dogs, or the cats, or the fish don't have thier own way to talk to each other, to think, to make decisions, and they just decide to adapt with thier environment, and not take it over.

You see in our mind there is a chemical which gives us something that all the other creatures do not have, a superiority complex, a feeling that we are better then everyone else, when in reality our brains are a curse, not just to us, but to everything around us, especially the Earth.

We have destroyed many species off of the face of this planet, and have came close to destroying the planet as well. I mean look at what we have done with only useing 10 of our brain! Imagine what would happen if we used it all. The human being's brain is not a gift, it is a curse, a curse that we cannot even understand, comprehend, and when we do have the ability to understand this, most of us are too distracted by Greed to even care.

Human beings should not be here, and pretty soon we will do something that will destroy the race, for no matter how smart we are, we are doomed to extinction. This warning was just a lifeline, to give them some more time to hopefully try and realize this and change, not trying to get smarter and using more of our brains, but perhaps it would be better just to get dumber, and use less.

Mike sighed. "No one must know, no one must continue his work." he said stepping inside. He looked around the room, computers, papers, and the radioactive machine.

Suddenly the whole room burst into flames, computers exploding, and fire climbing the wall. Mike walked through the room, the fire staying around him like he was inside an invisable shield and walked out the door into the hall. The fire followed him, heading down both hallways, as he walked down the hall slowly, fire climbing the walls and streaming across the floor around Mike.

Mike continued walking out of the building as the fire totally destroyed it.

Epilogue

2 weeks later

Stacy continud to cry as the preacher told the ulogy. "I'm sorry." someone whispered to her

She just nodded and sniffed. "Its ok."

"How are the kids?"

"Oh they are ok, they are sad of course, but they are just like thier father, the older one is so into science, they are going to grow up to be even smarter then thier dad." she said crying as they lowered the coffin deep into the dirt. "I will miss Scott of course, but I see him every day, he lives through them, and in a way, isn't even really dead.
