My December By: Jonathon Edelson

I sat and watched her lovingly that night.
My heart raced, my mind in a mortal plight.
Her hair shimmering like long golden strands.
My hope dimming in the wake of her beauty.
Her eyes like sapphire pools of endless finery.
And yet they create ghouls of melancholy.
Her skin, soft and silky, like warm velvet.
Her voluptuous cheeks, tender and milky.
Her white and perfect smile fills me with love.
In my mind's eye, she is my faultless dove.
Nevertheless, a void deepens inside.
Because I cannot have her, a lost dream.
My only chance is for fate to guide me.
That night was December twenty-second.
It was that night I will always remember.
I still love her to this waking day.
And the more I dwell on it, it becomes my dismay.
