“My Own World”

I walk along

Eyes to the ground.

You call my name

But I don’t look up.

I don’t even hear you.

You wonder

What’s wrong

When you finally

Catch up to me.

But nothing is wrong.

I was simply

Off in my own world

Of thoughts

And daydreams;

Ignorant of everything

Going on around me,

Conscious only

Of what’s going

Through my head.

I say ‘hi’

And we talk

For a few minutes

Before you have to go.

And then my mind

Sinks back

To it’s original thoughts,

Ignoring everything

Going on around me,

Until the next person

Calls my name

Wanting my attention.
