AN: This is the story I gave my mom for Mother's Day. It was written in a short amount of time so there might be some glitches in the story. That's all enjoy. ^_^ PS. Don't forget to review.

Part I

He couldn't believe it. This was the first time someone had defeated him. He laid there, broken and bloody. His name was Leon. And Leon was a dark tiger demon, a very rare and powerful species. He was face down in the ground, his black cat ears twitching every so often. Leon's long ebony hair, with blood red highlights, was spread out everywhere and his fury black tail was curled up to the side. His raven wings took a great deal of space around and black feathers were everywhere. Leon's mind lingered back and forth from consciousness. He was deep in a forest. A nearby bush began to shake and young woman walked into the scene. She was followed by young girl.

"Oh my! Are you okay?" the young woman exclaimed. She ran to his side and bent over him to get a better look. When she was given no response she turned him over so that he would be facing her. She gasped when she saw his face.

"What is it Sis?" the younger girl asked.

"He's ," the older one replied.

"Geez! You're acting as if you've never seen a guy before," the little girl replied. "Besides, handsome or not this guy is in bad shape.''

"You're right. Help me carry him to the house," the woman replied as she lifted his left arm over her shoulders. The girl nodded and lifted the other arm over her shoulders. Leon was extremely heavy but the two manage to carry him to their home.

Leon woke up in a dim room, covered with thick blankets. He tried to sit up but was too weak to do so. A door opened and a young woman came to his still blurry view. She carried a tray containing a bowl of soup. She smiled when she noticed his gray eyes gaze at her.

"I see you're awake," she said as she sat in a chair next to his bed. As Leon's vision cleared up he began to chuckle. "Hey what's so funny?"

"I must be dead," he replied.

"Why do you say that?"
"Because your beauty could only match an angel's," Leon replied.

"Thanks for the comment but I can assure you that you are alive," she said blushing deeply.

"What's your name angel?" Leon asked.

"My name is Ireina," She replied. Ireina had long silver hair and ice blue eyes. "What's yours?"

"I'm Leon," he answered.

"Well Leon, you're more fitted to be an angel than me with your wings and all."

"I'm a demon not an angel," Leon corrected.

"Anyways I brought you soup. Do you think you can sit up?" Ireina asked.

"I'll try," Leon said as he began to lift himself up. This time he succeeded. Ireina handed him the tray.

"Eat up. I'll check up on you in a little bit. Tell if you need anything," she said as she walked out of the room. Leon muttered thanks and began eating.

The morning birds chirped cheerfully as the new day began. Leon was rudely awakened by a high girlish voice yelling, "Wakie!"

Leon almost jumped out of his bed at the sound. His sensitive ears were ringing.

"Are you okay mister?" the girl asked.

"Yeah just don't do that again," Leon replied. "Who are you?"

"My name is Atara! I'm Ireina's little sister," Atara said.
"I should have figured that much. You look just like your sister," he said.

"Yep!" Atara answered gleefully. "So, where did you come from? How old are you? Are you single? If not, are you going to marry my sister? Ya know she thinks you're very handsome."

"Whoa! Take it easy with the questions little one. Well I come from a place called Kyonen. I'm 23 years old and I have absolutely no comments on those last two questions," Leon replied.

"You are exactly the same age as my sister!" Atara squealed.

"Atara! Where are you?" Ireina called.

"I'm with Leon!" the young girl yelled back. A few seconds later Ireina walked in with a tray of breakfast.

"You haven't been bothering Leon have you?" she asked.

"Nope. Not at all. All I did was wake him up," Atara replied.

"That's good. Now go outside and play. It's a beautiful day,'' Ireina commanded. The small girl did as she was told and ran out to play.

"Isn't it dangerous for her to be alone?" Leon asked with concern.

"Don't worry. There's no one around here for miles and no one ever comes here," Ireina assured.

"Doesn't it get lonely?"

There was a small glint of sadness in her eyes. "Always," she said quietly. Her face suddenly brightened up. "But don't worry about me I always have my little sis. Here I brought you breakfast." She handed him the tray. This time it was filled with eggs and bacon. Leon ate it hungrily.

"Thank you," he said with a full mouth.
Ireina giggled. "You seem to be feeling a lot better," she commented.

"Oh I do. Us demons heal fast," Leon said slightly muffled.

"You're.?" Ireina said shocked.

"Yeah. Does this make you feel uneasy?" Leon asked as finished the last of his breakfast.

"No, actually I feel more drawn to you. Please tell me. How did you get hurt so badly?" she inquired.

"I was attacked, by an old friend," Leon replied.

"But why would a friend attack you?"

Leon knew the answer to that. But he couldn't answer it without revealing his past. His dark past. Leon was a professional assassin. A jealous friend that wanted to prove he could beat Leon attacked him that night.

"I don't know," Leon lied. He decided to change the subject. "Say why don't we go outside since it's such a great day."

"Sure but are you well enough?"

"Yeah, I think so," Leon responded. He got out of bed and stood up. He stretched and yawned. "Wow I feel just as good as new."

"Come on. Lets go," Ireina said enthusiastically.

Leon held the sleeping child in his arms. It was late into the evening. Atara had played in the sun all day long. It was very quiet in the area Ireina and Atara lived. Perhaps too quiet, however it wasn't his concern. He would leave this place forever tonight. There were many people out for his head and just by being there he was putting Ireina and Atara in danger. When they made it the house he carefully handed Atara to Ireina. She tucked her into her bed. She came out of Atara's room to find Leon nowhere to be found. She rushed out of the house and followed a footprint trail that headed towards a deep forest. And she found him.

He just stood there and stared at he. As if he had been waiting for her to find him. Leon's face was filled with sorrow and confusion. His cat ears were lowered.

"Leon, where are you going?" Ireina asked with slight fear in her voice.

"Far away from here, back to my old life," he responded darkly.

"But why didn't you even say goodbye? You didn't even say goodbye to me!"

"If I would have done that I wouldn't been able to leave," Leon answered.

"Then don't! Don't leave. I've been so lonely. Even with my sister I have been lonely," Ireina cried.

"Then why don't you live closer to the village?" he asked curiously.

"Because no village wants to live with a half demon," Ireina said staring at the ground.

"You're half demon," Leon uttered with astonish.

"Yes. Half demon, half elven."

"The elven part explains your pointy ears, but I would never have guessed that you were half demon," Leon said.

"Please stay with me," she begged as she walked up closer to him.

"You wouldn't want me to if you knew who I truly am," Leon warned.

"I don't care. You are the first person in 10 years that has looked at me without fear or disgust in their eyes," she pleaded.
"The same goes to you and I want to keep you out of danger. And I attract a lot of danger."

"Jus stay," she whispered as she gazed at him with eyes that asked him to submit to her.

He couldn't resist her.

"All right I'll stay as long as I can," Leon said in a defeated tone.

"Thank you," Ireina spoke as she smiled. Life seemed bright from that moment on.

To be continued.
