Night darkness. Every sense heightens, until finally, climaxing around midnight, at the very middle of night. Witching hour, no, that's not it, it's our hour, only ours, and everyone knows it, no one has ever bothered to challenge us. They would loose anyways. The ones who do challenge us, they die. Like that, found dead in lying in the gutters of New York early in the morning. No traces left. Except two marks, two incisions on the left side of their necks. It is our mark, and we hold pride in it. It also makes us hunted by those who don't completely believe in our existence, but the world is in such a state of chaos anyways that it doesn't really matter.

The cops have lost all their power over mere street gangs. 15-25 year old junkies who think they can rule the world, and you know what? They do. New York City stands in shambles along with the rest of the United States. The street gangs don't really rule because standing in the shadows, not quite dead, but not really alive we stand. White as paper, lips blood red, eyes dark

as coal. Canines to big, to pierce the skin of those unlucky enough to be our prey, beautiful, although what human would believe his eyes if he saw us? Very few, but they're searching, searching for the ones who destroy their families taking seemingly innocent souls to their graves. We're angels of death, or vampires, depending on what you want to think.

Night was just setting, sun setting to leave space for the moon, which rose slowly. A full moon tonight, harvest moon, as well as a Saturday night, people would be out. Perfect. It was a beautiful night, the moon shone silver over the shadow of what used to be a magnificent city. The Hudson River ran silver tonight, an odd mix of to many oil spills and to much magic. The sky was blue going darker every second. Downtown on the plaza where Twin Towers 3 and 4 stood. They had been rebuilt after being destroyed although the United States had waited two hundred years before recreating them, but I was there the day they first fell. I didn't care, vampires don't care about that much. As long as we have prey, we're happy.

The towers were no longer used as the World Trade Center. The United States had been cut off in the fifth world war. I was there then too, I watched from the sidelines, watched the white house as it crumbled, watched the capital building burn, watched as Europe stripped us of our power. Watched as the empire once known as the United States of America fell apart. I could've left then, but I didn't, I didn't want too. I lived in New York for the past 3550 years, before that Europe, and before that I was in Egypt.

I was born a vampire, which is rare, for women who are vampires are usually sterile. I'm pure vampire as they get. Today the towers were used in seedy drug trade. You had to be careful walking around there. People waiting to kill you for your money around every corner, you didn't trust anyone around there. You got your stuff and left, that was it. The towers were dark, but that didn't fool me, drug trade was going, you could tell because it always was. Central park had

become huge apartment complexes for those who lost everything in the war. Clubs played music down the block at what used to be Tiffany's and Sax Fifth Avenue.

The police were zipping around town. Searching for us, as they always were, despite the fact they claimed we didn't exist. Witches and Wizards were scattered throughout the city, tonight was a full moon, magic would be taking place. The werewolves roaming the city in wolf form looking for more people to contaminate, and us, well we'd be preying soon. The street gangs could be heard from down the block, loud swearing, and lighters flicking on and off, and every now and then a gunshot. Where the Empire State Building used to be was the place all the street gangs met, it was the spot the y fought over as well. Whoever had the remains of the Empire State building also ruled the city.

That was it, well for the human part of the city. To find anything unnatural you would have to go into the underground. I was one of the few that lived above ground, but I liked it, from here I could watch the city, I lived right above an entrance into the underground. It was us, the vampires, who controlled the underground, although we weren't a tyranny. Nowhere near,

everyone was treated respectfully, it worked like this, we wouldn't prey on any other magical being as long as they kept their hands off of us. The werewolves couldn't bite any of us, or any other magical creature, the witches and wizards were not allowed to touch us. If they did they'd be found dead the next day.

We alone have the power to seduce, to kill, and don't forget our powers, anything, we were limitless, well we couldn't kill one of our own. That was where our power stopped, for the only way we could kill was by draining a human of their blood. No other way, no guns, knives, or magic. We simply couldn't do it. But no one dared challenge us, because we didn't care we would kill, drain their blood from their bodies, and we could make it painful. I glanced at my watch, 9:30 Erin would be here soon, along with the rest of the gang. Right on cue my door slammed open. In walked Erin, closely followed by Ariel who was walking arm in arm with his girlfriend Lilian.

"Hey Ramses!" Called Erin (that's not my actual name, but they call me that because I'm Egyptian.) "What's happening above ground?" Erin walked over to the window. Her eyes wandered over to the Hudson. "Its silver tonight, lots of magic." Her eyes wandered through the rest of the city. "Where we off to?"

"You know what would be awesome?" Said Ariel, he was a short guy with long blond hair that was pulled back in a ponytail. Dressed in a close fitting black muscle top, which showed of his highly tattooed arms, a piercing on his lip, completed the outfit, he was just as dangerous as he looked. Didn't let anything get to him, quite probably the only person he cared about was Lilian, they had been changed together. By me, about 800 years ago, it had been a willing change, well

for Ariel, Lilian followed because she had always looked up to Ariel. They had started dating about 700 years ago. Lilian was also tiny, she couldn't be more than five feet tall. Tonight she was dressed in a black sweater and black jeans, he hair was red andcut short just at her chin, although her appearance made her look innocent she

was anything but.

"If we went to the Empire State Plaza and scared some crazy drugged up kids."

"You're asking to be killed dumb ass." Said Erin. Erin was my favorite. I'd known Erin my whole life, she was my best friend, the only person I truly trusted. We had dated a while back but it had

never worked out.

She was tall like me, long black hair that swept to her hips. She was wearing a blue tank top under a black sweater. Her hair had blue and purple streaks tonight. Out of all of us she was the only one who ever wore any color. Her jeans had at one point been dark blue but where now faded to an almost white and covered in paint streaks her tongue and bellybutton were pierced, as well as at least five earrings on each ear. I never bothered to count..

"Its not a bad idea really." I said cautiously. Pulling out a dark blue sweater and pulling it over my head, then running a quick hand through my hair I turned to face them.

"Ramses, do you need reminding of what happened last time we were there?" Asked Erin.

"Yeah we got some of the best prey we've ever had." Ariel answered

"But we also almost got caught by the cops and you know what happens if they catch us."

"Of course we know Erin, locked into a sealed cell, where we can't escape, blood starvation."

"You see my point then?" Asked Erin. Planting her arms firmly on her hips.

"Got it. So where we going?" Asked Lilian

"World trade centers?" Suggested Erin.

"Only if you want to get high tonight, I for one was trying to quit." I said

"Anyone seen Jonathan lately?" Asked Erin.

"Did someone say my name?" Jonathan stuck his head through the window of my room before flipping inside. A lit joint was in his hand, he took a drag before continuing. "Fight tonight at the Empire State. Between Black Magic and the Devils. They're fighting over the space. Should be interesting.

"They've got some great pot at the World Trade Centers, although earlier today there were some problems in the heroin department, some junkie getting pissed off, oh yes and some witch lost control of her potion and blew a big hole in the bottom of Central Park Station. But the rescue crews are on it. Anyways what's happening tonight?" Jonathan we had met about 100 years ago on a trip to the west coast. His father was a vampire but his mother was human. Crazy guy. He was rarely sober.

Jonathan was in charge of all the Manhattan drug trade. Few humans knew he was a vampire..

"What time does the fight start?" Asked Ariel.

"I thought we agreed we weren't going to the Empire State tonight!" Erin said firmly.

"Well if there's a fight tonight I want to see it. If you guys are hungry now we can grab something after the fight, I want to go!" Ariel said, excited.

"But there'll be cops everywhere." Said Erin, I nodded in agreement.

"But come on Black Magic has had the Empire State for a month now, if they loose it it'll be big. Come on Erin. Please?" Jonathan jumped up and down, almost like a little kid.

"Whatever." She said finally giving in.

"Yes!" Jonathan wrapped her in a hug.

"Put me down or you'll regret it," Jonathan dropped her.

"Right then, lets go." I said opening the door of my apartment and stepping out into the hallway.

You could feel the excitement in the night. We transported ourselves to the Empire State Building plaza. There was a crowd already, some fifty people. There would be a lot more than that before the night was over. The two street gangs were prepping each standing around, sharpening blades, and flexing their muscles. There was a sort of tense energy hovering over the area. I examined the two gangs. Of the two black magic seemed to be better. They were taller and more muscular, tougher looking too. The Devils were younger, they'd probably get their ass's busted tonight, give them an idea of how the world works these days. That might not be a bad idea, kids needed that kind of information, and if they got hurt along the way well that was their tough luck wasn't it? Life wasn't fair, but whoever said it was?

I ran my tongue nervously over my canines, when blood was near they lengthened but for the moment they were hidden. To the rest of the world I looked like a very pale human. I was hungry at the moment, but I'd control myself, until the Empire State was claimed. Then I'd

disappear to some remote corner of New York City and eat. Maybe everyone else would come with me, maybe they wouldn't.

We each had our own place to eat. Personally I liked what used to be central park, but Jonathan preferred the World Trade Centers, probably because of the drugs in the blood of whatever human he was preying on. Ariel on the other hand preferred Fifth Avenue, and Lilian usually followed. Erin didn't care as long as there was food. She was probably the least picky out

of all of us.

More and more people were arriving. I recognized a few other vampires, and a witch or wizard here and there. Witches and Wizards are strange people. Very cryptic and hard to get a straight answer from, usually just a bit crazy as well, well no more than a bit crazy, very crazy. But on the whole very helpful people, werewolves on the other hand were nice the whole time, relatively normal as well, except when it came to full moons. Then they let the predator within them come out completely.

The fight was starting, for a moment everything stood still and it erupted the two gangs fighting full force, glints of steel, and then red crimson blood. My stomach grumbled and it took all my self-control not to attack the human standing on my right, and keep my canines sheathed. There would be more blood before the fight was over, and only when it was done was I allowed to go eat. I could tell Erin was having some trouble maintaining calm as well. Ariel and Lilian seemed decently calm; they had probably already eaten today. Jonathan, well he was high and didn't care about much. There was a cheer from the crowd as a member of the Devils fell to the

floor, dead. I felt the life snuff out of him, but the fight kept going. Getting more and more violent by the second. The smell of blood was so strong I could hardly keep my composer.

The fight finally came to a close, I was so hungry that had I so much as felt a human pulse I would have attacked. Black Magic was still in charge of the city, the Devils having suffered a horrible loss. Erin and I disappeared, we arrived in central park at around 11:30 Finding food was not hard. Half an hour later we both returned to my apartment, full. We were greeted by Lilian sitting on Ariel's lap They were kissing enthusiastically, her legs wrapped around his waist, one hand I believe was down her pants. Jonathan was sitting on the windowsill smoking something, probably pot.

"They seem to be having fun eh?" He asked nodding in the direction of Lilian and Ariel. "How was your dinner?"

"Nice thank you, we found some people in Central Park." I said sitting down on the kitchen table, which was there more for looks than usage.

"Good, good."

"When do you think they'll be done?" Erin jabbed her thumb in the direction of my room.

"All night by the sound of it, Erin you mind if I crash at your place tonight."

"Sure you can stay over." She said, "But the night's young yet. Come on lets go do something."

Jonathan's pager went off, he pulled it out of his pocket. "So sorry I couldn't

stick around longer, but I have to go take care of our little problem in the heroin dep. See you all later." And he disappeared.

"So where are we going?" I asked as Erin and I left the building.

Erin shrugged. "Lets go underground." I nodded and followed her down under into what used to be the subway systems.

People were rushing up and down the corridors. Saturday nights were busy. Dark pubs had the TV on watching a popular witch band's concert. Every now and then there was an explosion from somewhere, but that was normal.

"There's a new club that opened last week, I want to go check it out." Said Erin, turning down a corridor.

"Where is it?" I asked stepping over a witch who had accidentally spilled a potion on herself, it would wear off in about and hour. Until then I wasn't about to waste my time.

Vampires are rather into solidarity there were very few people I cared about in the world. There was Erin, and I sort of cared about Ariel and Lilian, to care even slightly for a person in our world meant you'd be willing to risk your own life for them. To care for someone was a

weakness it meant that a cop, or someone, some human, or even vampire could use them against you. And caring for to many people made you weak.

"Down at the central park station." Answered Erin.

"Ok, meet you there." I disappeared. I reappeared at a dark club, the music was to loud, and I doubted there was one vampire over the age of three hundred.

"This is for kids." I yelled over the music as we entered.

"So just give it a try." Screamed Erin.

I raised an eyebrow, but sat down at the bar. I ordered a beer taking a large swig from the cup. Erin gave me a look, (she was against my drinking) but didn't say anything. She just pulled out a cigarette and started smoking. I glared at her, I hated it when she smoked, but she simply glared back. A young female came over to us. She gave a cheesy smile and started flirting shamelessly. I rolled my eyes she couldn't be more the 200, you could always tell. I rolled my eyes and got up. She followed me but I shook her off. She glared after me.

"Kid," She looked up. "Listen, go get someone your own size, cause really, I'm not interested if you are not over at least 1000. Don't take it personally."

'Whatever." She walked away.

"She give you the cold shoulder? or was it the other way around?" Asked Erin walking up to me, and lighting a cigarette at the same time.

"More like the other way around." I shrugged. "She was a kid, I'm not interested in some idiot that can hardly feed themselves."

"Who cares Ramses, its only one night." Erin blew smoke into my face.

"Erin what is it with you tonight you're very into me getting some."

"And if I am? You know that you need to. When was the last time you had sex? Can you even remember?"

"Erin what's wrong with you tonight? We usually never talk about this, you know that I'm not big on regular sex!"

"Well I'm just saying its been like what now three months, four maybe."

"And if it has." My temper was getting the better of me and I knew it but at this point I really didn't care.

"Then I suggest that you get some quickly. Or jack off, your pick." Erin grinned.

"Erin what the fuck? Would you just stop bugging me already? I thought that you knew me better than that! You know I only sleep with someone that I half care for."

"And it makes you weak. Ramses. You can't hang onto emotion, you know that, you can't feel for everyone who you sleep with because otherwise, you are going to die in this world."

"Would you shut up already." I had had enough, I disappeared from the bar, I arrived back at my place but I didn't bother to go into my room because the sounds coming from within were enough to make anyone scared. I conjured up a bed and lay down. I was asleep within moments just as the sun began rising over the horizon. Lighting up the world trade centers with a golden light. I yawned and rolled over. Accepting the sleep that overtook my body.

I was woken just before nightfall, by Erin sitting down on the bed I had conjured up. "Hey," she smiled. I rolled over my so that my back faced her. "Oh come on you know you can't stay mad at me that long. Please come on Ramses I'm sorry ok, I was totally out of line last night."

"You could say that," but I had already forgiven her. Erin is a rather hard person to stay mad at.

"I'm so sorry." Erin grinned she knew she had won.

"Its okay, don't worry about it ok? Just don't do it again, cause next time I might not forgive you." Erin grinned and wrapped me in a hug. I hugged her back before getting out of bed. With a single thought I changed into black pants a black muscle shirt. My stomach rumbled reminding me that I might want to get food sometime soon. Lillian and Ariel entered the kitchen. Arms wrapped around each other. Occasionally pausing for a kiss.

"So how was your night?" Asked Ariel.

"Good." Said Erin answering for me.

"Whatever what are we doing tonight?" Asked Erin. We all shrugged.

"I say we go to the world trade centers. I need to ask Jonathan something." Said Lillian.

"What?" Asked Ariel.

"I need to ask him if he knows what's going on with the police? Because last night two more of us where taken, after the fight at Empire State. And the cops have got some sort of new technology, because the usual spells didn't work." Lillian's eyes were worried.

"How did you figure this out?" Asked Erin sitting down on the counter.

"After the fight when you and Ramses left, the cops caught a lot of us. Ariel and I tried to free them, but we failed, Jonathan said he'd do some sneaking around and try to figure out how they got the information that we could break free of their technology. So that's why I need to go see him tonight." Explained Lillian. "And he said he'd be around the World Trade Centers tonight, because he had some business to take care of."

"Right then, World Trade Centers ok with everyone?" I asked glancing around, everyone nodded, I disappeared, and reappeared at the World Trade Centers. Jonathan was talking to some junkies, about what I'm not exactly sure. He looked around as he felt us arrive. Catching my eye he nodded and signaled to wait just a second. I nodded back.

A minute later he walked up to us. "What's up?" He grinned.

"Jonathan how many were taken last night?" Erin was anxious.

"Five or six, not exactly sure." Jonathan gave a sad smile. "I still don't know who's been spilling information about us, they said he doesn't have a name, well he goes by the name of Devil, sort of cliche really."

"No vampire in the right mind goes by that kind of name." Said Ariel roughly.

"Well it's a code name, but no Vampire in the right mind would spill information to the cops either." Said Jonathan

"Fact." I admitted.

Dana walked through the office building. Flipping her hair over her shoulder, grinning from ear to ear. She had just been given a raise, not only in money but in position, she was now in charge of the entire Manhattan Magical Control Department. When she had joined the police force, she hadn't believed in any of the witch, werewolf, and Vampire crap. But five years of seeing them, fighting them first hand, and even being bitten twice by a vampire had taught her otherwise. It was true there was a whole magical world, within the old subway systems of Manhattan, and those who didn't believe it where the ones who would suffer. But it was hard to keep up with them, magic against science was not a fair match, because ninety nine percent of the time, magic was what won. But that wasn't important right now. She had been promoted, she was in charge of a whole department, her dream come true. She dropped her briefcase in her new office, pulling out a small black laptop computer, a radio which she placed in the corner of her office. She then sat down in the large black chair, and turned on her computer.

Not much could make today very much better. Well in an hour she would have to go on call, head of the department or not, she still had to go on call. Going on call was practically a synonym for chasing after vampires hopelessly for half the night. Thank God she didn't start work till twelve, she worked from 12 pm to 1:30 2 am, before going home sleeping for about seven hours or less, because her dreams were often haunted by the images of cold dark creatures simply waiting to suck the blood from her body. But now wasn't the time to think about that. Right now she was happy, happy because she had finally gotten the job of her dreams.

The pone in her pocket rang. Cursing softly she answered it. "Hello?"

"Hey Dana, its Devil." A chill went down her spine, it was Devil, the random caller that had given them all their information about vampires. "If I where you I'd go check the cells because the bigger guy that you captured last night is about to get out. Take a stun gun, and add another layer to the shield, that should hold them." The line went dead. Dana got up from her seat. Grabbing her gun and setting it on stun, she then wrapped her blond hair into a tight bun, so that it wouldn't get caught in the machinery that would create another shield. Before walking out the door. The trip to the cells was quick, and as Devil had said the biggest Vampire that had been captured the night before was trying to break out. He almost had. Dana took out her radio and called for help before giving the warning she would be creating another shield. A moment later she was surrounded by six more cops, each one holding a stun gun.

"On three." She called. "One, two, three" The beams all went out a one, hitting the vampire, he collapsed. Dana knew it would only hold him for a minute, so she had a minute to create the shield. She dashed to the other side of the room. Unlocking a door, it opened into a small black room with a single button. Without a moments hesitation she pressed her hand against it, and a new electron shield began to generate. Within ten seconds a new shield had been created. Smiling Dana left the room, locking the door behind her. She was greeted by cheers, the vampire was now pacing around his cell, cursing. They had won, again, and it was all thanks to Devil.

"Why do you insist on keeping us locked up in here?" Asked a small female.

"Because your race is a cruel one." Answered on of Dana's co-workers

"That's not true" She said "We're just trying to survive. That's all, just like you, when you eat meat, its like us, sucking your blood, we're just higher up on the food chain."

"But unlike cows, we're intelligent and we know how to fight back." Said Dana. "See you guys later, and anyone who tries to get out gets punished."

"Can't get very much worse than this. "Grumbled the female who had challenged me.

"Oh trust me it can." Dana answered before walking out the door.

I got home at around 4 am that night, after a rather wild night with Jonathan, and the rest of the gang. It had involved running from cops, and almost being knifed by several crazy street gangs. As I collapsed in bed I thought I heard a sound from outside. I looked out my window to see a cop pacing below I quickly ducked but something made me look out again. Below my building a man hide in the shadows, but on second thought I realized he was no man. That was a vampire. His whole face was covered by a large black hood, a moment later he motioned over the cop, I was about to turn away when I saw that they were talking, stretching my power I put an eves-dropping spell on them and listened into their conversation.

"Soon, they will have figured out how to break even the strongest electron shields, the only choice is to use magic." Said the vampire. Suddenly I was intrigued, this was Devil, it had to be.

"But the force will never allow it-" Started the cop.

"Shhhhh" Hissed Devil, we're being watched, he looked straight at me, my breath caught when I saw that his eyes were not the typical black but a strange yellow that seemed to glow in the darkness. "I must go. Goodbye."

"Wait!" Called the cop, but Devil was already gone. The cop shook his head, and entered is car, driving away quickly the only sound disrupting a perfect silence.

I sighed and turned my head, I must've imagined those eyes. I'd only met one vampire who'd had yellow irises in my life, and he had died, thousands of years ago. I fell into bed, haunted by dreams of my past.

I was woken by the growling of my stomach, that reminded me that I hadn't found the time to eat last night. I got out of bed. The night was just setting, the sun causing the sky to go into magnificent reds and purples. I sighed looking out my window for a moment before getting dressed and going into the kitchen, where Jonathan and Erin were standing, both smoking, although Jonathan was smoking pot, probably laced with just about everything else knowing him.

"Where are Ariel and Lillian?" I asked.

"I don't know." Erin shrugged. "Said they'd meet us here in a bit."

"Want?" Jonathan offered me a joint. I shook my head. "

."Jonathan hand me that." Said Ariel.

"Stoners." I muttered under my breath.

"Hey I'm stressed out ok?" Ariel inhaled.

"What happened?" I asked.

"Cops." Lillian muttered darkly.

"Ariel here left his wallet at a bar, earlier today. Later on a cop stopped us, and handed it back. But obviously they had detectors on them because next thing we knew, we were up to our necks in cops. They almost had us, when some random high as hell werewolf came running across the street, still half changed. And half of them left us to go take care of him. We managed to escape in that half second long moment of confusion. We disappeared to the Empire State Plaza, and then came back here."

"Let me guess you don't have your wallet?" Asked Erin.

"Well no I conjured it but, I'm just pissed off."

"Hey baby, its ok." Said Lillian kissing him softly. "Its ok."

"Mmmm," Ariel sighed capturing Lillian's lips again.

"So what's up?" I asked, leaning against the kitchen counter.

"I'm starving, food comes first." Said Lillian. "You all want to go for dinner before deciding what to do?" She asked.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"Central park ok with everyone?" Said Ariel. I nodded, as did everyone else, we disappeared.

No one can describe, the pleasure of draining ones blood from their body. Some might call us cruel, but you try being at the top of the food chain, once you taste power you can never go back. Blood rolls into your mouth like magic, full of a person's life, and you know that you are taking at for yourself. When we are eating, is the point in which we are the weakest, the days the cops find that out vampires are dead, ironic, as technically, we're the angels of death. We bring death on swift wings, with sharp fangs that pierce peoples skin, only to suck their blood from their bodies, taking their life. Call us cruel, but we call it survival. Its not our fault humans are lower than us on the food chain. I finished feeding and wiped my mouth off, before dropping the now lifeless human to the ground. Now full, I turned around, my eyes glowed slightly in the night, but everything was dark. I smiled, my canines sheathing themselves. Erin joined me a moment later, her eyes glowing in the darkness.

"Whatcha thinking about?" She asked. Pulling her dark hair into a ponytail. Then deciding she didn't want to and left it down.

"Cops," I muttered darkly. "How easily they could kill us if they knew all the secrets."

"Don't we know it, don't we know it." Erin whispered through her teeth. "Where are Ariel and Lillian?" I asked.

Erin shrugged. "They disappeared, I think, they went with Jonathan to the World Trade Centers." She glanced at me nervously. I was straight edge, and had been for 100 years, no one else I hung out with was, but I was always trying to talk them into being, I had failed so far.

"Drugs?" I asked, Erin nodded, I frowned, "Oh come on, its not big deal, its their life!"

"Doesn't mean I have to agree, you would do well to quite yourself!" Erin just glared.

"I think that if a person wants to get high its their choice, I do it."

"And, I don't agree!" Said Erin, she was leaning against the side of her building arms crossed.

"Then you don't, doesn't mean I'm going to stop trying." Erin shrugged pulling out a cigarette and lighting it just to piss me off.

"What are we doing tonight?" she asked. While I pretended her smoking wasn't getting to me.

"Getting high off our asses, then getting caught by the cops, and after a few painful days of starvation, dying? How does that sound?" Erin gave me a look, but put out the joint.

"Happy?"

"Yes, very." I hugged her. Suddenly a white flash of light covered the sky. I gasped covering my eyes at the brightness. The ground shuddered, and everything went flying. I held onto Erin for dear life. Waiting for the world to settle. There was no question of what had happened, Europe had once again dropped an atomic bomb.

"Ariel and Lillian?" She asked., an unspoken agreement passed between us, it didn't' matter. Before long cops would be running around the city, and we had to get underground. Thanks to the invention of gamma proof fabrics radiation wouldn't keep cops away. Radiation wasn't a problem for vampires, but cops were. I grabbed Erin's hand and dragged her underground.
