I’m sick of this place,

And its stuffy air.

Its minute people

And their minute problems

Are giving me a headache.

I don’t claim to be smart,

It’d be great if I could.

But give me a break!

Is a 90 not good?

Step off your pedestals

You’ve put yourselves on,

And appreciate what’s there.

Don’t look at me,

Like some kind of bug

Because I don’t play in your league,

Or love what you love.

Open your minds,

To the beauty around,

Take a deep breath!

Come back to the ground!

I may not know what you know,

But I’m too proud to ask.

So I keep my mouth closed

While you go on

About your stupid lives.

I’m too proud to tell you

That I want to cry

And scream at you

“Please! Just open your eyes!”

You’re not so smart

You can’t speak your language.

Maybe you’re too proud

To admit you’re no good

Or to ask me for help

So you put language down.

And I’m still too proud

To give you a show,

And let you know

That I too have talent.

That I could beat you.

That I can read ‘Hamlet’.

But we’re too proud,

So we suffer.

We excel at one thing

And lose at another.

Pride will be our downfall.
