Wind whips around my face
And I, the passerby
Am the casualty of your torrid madness.
You couldn't take the time to warn me
That I'd be swept away
My heart thrown to the hounds
Your wants and needs takings over.
I was young and pure and innocent, once
So short and so long ago
I caught you at a bad time;
I was the first female thing to come into your line of sight
Since last you saw her back.
And so it was that I was chosen
I didn't realize
This new and foreign passion
Was too fierce to be more than your
Lies;
And now I lie here broken
Smashed to pieces on the floor
A cracked and chipping china doll,
My eyes pried out and pawned
By you, who called me lover.
Frozen
Cracking
Broken
One ice tear on my cheek.
