Center of Society
A long time ago something held us tight,
Prevented us from doing actions we so wanted to.
The barrier between an unmarried couple
bound us to the way of the gentleperson.
Made us say yes sir, no mam,
and curtsey or bow to our seniors
stopped us from hurting, and yet it made us kill.
Almost nameless thing in the world today,
but long ago it was known as honor and culture.
Our culture today is so different,
far from gentle and good.
Now it is killings and movies, computers and calls.
Then it was family and friends, horse and livelihood.
When did it go? Why did it go?
Is this culture taking us the right way
or will it tumble us to the ground,
broken beyond fixing?
What do you think?
