Youth Of The Nation

We are the youth of the nation,

And it’s time we have some appreciation.

Just because we like attending parties

And watching rated late night movies,

We like to hang out in the shopping mall

And gossip during assembly in the school hall.

But this doesn’t mean we are all that bad,

Stop blaming us! You’re making us mad!

We are all the youth of the nation,

To us life is more than just education.

Just because we wear our jeans at our hips

And love to smear gloss on our lips

We’re not all stupid punks who think it cool

To smoke in toilets in the school.

And just because we smash things up and vandalize

We’re not all bad, you gotta realize.

We are all the youth of the nation

And though we smooch at the train station

And turn up the radio to the maximum volume

Until our neighbours all fret and fume.

We grab every chance we have to go

To shake butt at the beloved disco.

Though we have rings on our bellies and noses, too

And our hair is streaked bright red and blue,

Know that all this is just for show

We’re not that bad, you gotta know.

We are the youth of the nation,

And we really demand some appreciation

You say we’re rebellious, you say we’re bold,

And stubborn and rude so we’ve been told,

But we’re just trying to be ourselves

Just like you being and acting like yourselves.

So don’t you point fingers or ever accuse

Or nag us loudly that we’re no use,

And tell us we’re ruining our reputation

Because someone just has to be the youth of the nation!
