Amy Grace Greene

I thought of her as a great friend. She was nice, sweet and very understanding.

That was when we were in Girl Scouts together.

It was that church across from Longfellow. We went there every Saturday and had learned new things. Then we were friends; seeing each other everyday at school and then getting to work together on Saturdays...a nice friendship.

When I stopped going there we were still friends but not as close.

Then a few years later I find out that she is sick. I am worried but I was sure that it was just a cold or something like that. When I found out she was in the hospital I was really wondering what happened.

Then months later I find out that she died. They sent us into this large room with everyone in Amy's cluster and people who went to Longfellow. I was expecting it was going to be news about the school. When I heard Amy's name I knew what had happened.

The teachers gave us these ribbons to wear to remember Amy and then to go back up to out classrooms. When I went back up everyone was gone already.

Then I sat down and cried.

I just couldn't take it in. Amy was just another student who was great at school, had many friends and was just trying to be a normal girl. Then she dies...an innocent child dies. I just couldn't understand why.

Why did Amy Greene have to die?

So Mr. and Mrs. Greene, all I have to tell you that Amy didn't deserve to die. I guess that we have no control over that matter...

But we do have control on how we remember all of the good times. It might be hard to do because just the pain of thinking of her...but remember when she was happy and hugged you when she was happy and cried on your shoulder when she was sad?

Those were the times of Amy Greene.

So with many others I also cry over the loss of Amy Greene.

Of a great friend.

Of a part of our heart.
