No, Damien's obsessive reliance on his god is not a jab at Christianity or any other monotheistic religion, since it is in fact not one. There are lesser gods, but they are viewed as worthless in comparison to the Lord. Damien's conflict stems from the differences between what he's been taught by overbearing old priests, and what he feels should be right. Yes, this is my reluctant way of admitting to writing a love story.
Damien and Xavier are twins, yes, but grew up orphaned and apart. They come from the island of Elenium, lying off the eastern coast of Lemania (map can be found at my account, username neffinesse), the inhabitants of which are notoriously puritan, especially in matters of romance, and - to be frank - racistic. Pure Elenians are tan-haired with green eyes, and the brothers are no exception.
Lakado is a mountain nomad, which is nearly opposite to Elenians in matter of morals and customs, with the odd idea that you may do what you want with whom you want, as long as you're not doing it in public. This goes for couples of all genders.
And that's about it. Enjoy, and if you've got any questions or suggestions, fire away.
Losing My Religion
Every whisper
Of every waking hour I'm
Choosing my confessions
Trying to keep an eye on you
Like a hurt, lost and blinded fool
Oh, no, I've said too much
I set it up
