This story is based upon original characters I made up on my website. I made a story previous to this one, but I didn’t post it up. These characters are also those found in Feather Fletchette’s Eternity’s Legend (which isn’t posted). So enjoy and please leave comments. I’ll be posting up more chapters soon. I have another pen name – Snow Angel, but so many other people have that name so I had to change it to something original. You can read the stories I’ve posted there if you want, too.
Darkness Falling
Prologue

A single, ebony dragon flew noiselessly in the starry sky, so as not to attract attention. Tiny lights twinkled below, simulating the twinkling stars above. The dragon paid little to no attention to the serene scene. He flew in haste to deliver the coveted talisman to his mistress. The Eternal Gates were up ahead. The dragon did not use them directly of course. Dragons are far more intelligent than to use simple manmade contraptions. He needed only the magic field around the Gate to teleport himself to his destination.
Within minutes he was at the castle. As always, there were storm clouds and lightning surrounding it, but he was used to it by now. Despite the threat of the storm, he pumped his wings harder to reach the tallest tower of the compound, where his mistress waited for his return. It took him many months and many dragon and monster lives to attain this priceless heirloom. He knew, however, that it was for a worthy cause. To set his mistress free.
He reached the tower and landed one-footed just inside the wide window. In his other claw, he held the tiny treasure. His wings beat a little, half spread, to regain balance. His mistress could not be seen, yet he knew she was there. She was always there. Sure enough out of the shadows her shape emerged.
“Ah, you have returned, Ebonyss. Have you brought it to me?” the slight woman demanded regally with an outstretched hand.
Yes, mistress. It is done. I have it here, Ebonyss replied telepathically. He carefully placed the little talisman in the palm of her hand.
“Well done, Ebonyss. You may return to the Den,” his mistress told him, pleased.
When the dragon had gone, the woman walked quietly back to her quarters. She was all grace and stunning beauty, but it was marred by the clinking of heavy chains at her feet. Upon her head she wore what seemed to be a delicate crown of pure gold and precious stones, but was actually a magicked inhibitor that prevented her from using powerful sorcery. She had wild, raven tresses that hung unbound to her waist, and sensual, blood red lips. Her eyes were sapphire, characteristic of all the members of the Eternity family. Right now, they glittered with excitement and a cold look of ill concealed hatred.
“At last,” she breathed, turning the golden object in her hands, “the tool for my salvation.”
It was a budding orchid – the imperial heirloom of the Floral Kingdom. It had magical properties and corrosive nectar that could be a dangerous weapon if used in war. It was able to destroy all types of materials, even those with enchantments and spells upon them.
The jewels on her tiara glittered dangerously. “Oh, go blast yourself,” the sorceress muttered, as she felt her head under the tiara get hot. “You can’t do anything about it. It’s too late.” She knew they were watching everything and were powerless to stop it. Laughing almost maniacally, she carefully dripped a bit of the nectar onto each of the chains binding her ankles. She grimaced, a little alarmed, as the liquid sizzled and burned holes in the metal. Soon she was free. Arrogantly she sauntered over to her large glass mirror and smiled triumphantly at her tiara.
“I’ll be seeing you very soon,” she drawled, glaring challengingly into the middle jewel of her crown as she dripped the nectar on it.
So how was it? Tell me what you think. No flames please! It’s a waste of your time and mine. I’ll post a new chapter asap – sooner depending on the feedback I receive. Hasta luego, minna!
Fletchette’s Note: And as major editor and co-author, I tweaked with the story… gomen nasai minna.!
