my grotesque face
and mangled body,
shall guard,
forever,
the sweat,
and blood,
and toil
of many men
represented in
stone and structure
and me and
my brethren.
I stand
with my kin,
rearing, ready
to attack with
stone claws
and iron fangs
against,
the sweat,
and blood,
and toil
of many men
who would wish
to topple
my mighty
pedestal.

until I
crumble
into ashen dust.
