For K.E.L.
I'd like to share a story
about my dearest friend.
She starved herself, but is alive,
living and on the mend.
She wanted to be skinny,
not like her sister, Fat,
and nearly lost the entire world.
Can you imagine that?
Now her growth is stunted
her eyes, two hollow shells.
Yet, still I hear her when she sings,
her voice like wedding bells.
Her family doesn't trust her,
they watch her like a hawk.
And now that people know this
all they do is gawk.
They placed her in a hospital
and gave her mental help.
Now she's back and sorry,
but no one hears her yelp.
She nearly lost everything
for the sake of vanity.
I nearly lost my dearest friend,
my other part of me.
So here's the lesson of the day
Learn and listen well.
Before you go and throw away
the life which you possess,
picture a world with no light,
no hope, no love, no joy.
Picture, if you will,
Hell.
That's what her life is right now,
shrouded in black misery.
She nearly lost everything,
And anything that ever could be.
It's getting better, day by day.
She's making an attempt,
trying hard to find some way
to vanish the pain and agony
and find the sun again.
