As I walk through the garden of life
I spy a rosebush blooming along the path
Gently, I raise a flower toward my face
And admire the rich, red color
I inhale the sweet, powerful scent
And feel the delicate satin of the petals
Softly I touch the delicate bloom to my lips
Feeling the texture of the rose
And I simply gaze at its beauty
The rose's whisper reaches my ear
As it thanks me for taking this moment
So many opportunities bloom
That we do not spy or seek
And if we do find the chance to take it
We may turn back from fear or fright
So many doors are left unopened
So many stars are out of sight
There is a light within us all
That must shine as a beacon
This brilliance, a passion
Must enlighten that which is darkness
So all may come and discover
Our radiance
For we are luminous
Shining like the light of a thousand stars
Who takes that light and hides it?
That is simply the waste of a gift
We must let our light shine
Let it fill our hearts, spirits, souls
Now we shall spy and seek
Take the chances
Conquer our fear and fright
Open the doors
See the stars
And shine
I stagger back, shocked by the meaning
Of a simple rose's whisper
If a rose can see the answer
Why can't we?
Now, even as I wander through the garden
The garden that is life
I remember that rose
And watch for the blossoms of opportunity
That I may not miss them
My life has now been changed
By the simplicity
Of a rose's kiss
